On Tuesday, December 11th , 2012 there will be a "Logging Days"lecture at the Wapsi River Center at 7:00 P.M. ~ Join Clinton County Naturalist Jill Schmidt, as you unfold the logging days of the upper Midwest. Jill will share her experiences living and learning about the historical logging industry in the northern woods of Wisconsin. Discover an original logging camp and enter the life of a lumberjack in the 1800s.

The Wapsi River Environmental Education Center can be found 6 miles south of Wheatland or 1 mile northwest of Dixon, Iowa by taking County Road Y4E. Then turn north at 52nd Avenue and follow the signs for about 1 mile.

He's made his list and he's checked it twice; now Santa's ready to visit the Davenport Public Library this holiday season.  Santa's been here once already this year and is making two more special trips to the Main Street Library (321 Main Street) on Saturday, December 8 and 15, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.; and from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 pm. each day.  Due to Mr. Claus' popularity, we ask that all families are in line no later than 2:15 p.m.

Parents can bring their cameras to take pictures, and there will be goodies for the kids.  Make sure to come early for a chance to see Santa pull up in his amazing Santamobile!

Wells Fargo Bank and Davenport Printing Company sponsor this merry event. For more information call (563) 326-7832.

Residents ask  Rep. Bobby Schilling to protect middle class tax cuts. A recent CNN poll reports that the public sees the looming "fiscal cliff" as a serious crisis for the nation.

Local residents will drop a large banner today (12-3-12) asking  Bobby Schilling to support extending the middle class tax cuts.

The banner will be dropped at 4:30 p.m. C.S.T. in Moline, Illinois

Location: On John Deere Road (between 7th and 16th Street) along fence at walkway overpass.

Please note:  Residents are not able to speak with Bobby Schilling about important issues such as this because Schilling has chosen to close his Moline Congressional District office.

Davenport, Iowa, November 30, 2012 - Vander Veer Botanical Park Conservatory's annual Holiday Floral Show will open tomorrow, Saturday, December 1.
