Hello!

An immensely fun week downtown will get rolling when the WQPT- Brew Ha-Ha takes over LeClaire Park on Saturday!  Enjoy award-winning beer tasting, comedy by The Blacklist, and tunes by Minus Six.   Also on Saturday, plan to bring the kids down to Modern Woodmen Park for Healthy Family Day.  This fun-filled event features activities including the always popular NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition!

 

Just down the road, the Celtic Festival and Highland Games will be taking place in Centennial Park on Saturday afternoon as East-West Riverfest wraps up. Enjoy performances by Celtic bands, workshops, and educational presentations for all ages. Getting married soon?  Pop over to the Budget Bridal Fair at the German American Heritage Center on Sunday, too.

The QC Rollers return to the RiverCenter for a double-header against the Mid-Iowa Rollers and the Iowa Skate Patrol.  Expect to experience exciting flat-track roller-derby!  Consider stopping by the Spook Walk at the Davenport Library on Saturday afternoon with the kids, too.

 

Fishbone comes to the River Music Experience on Monday night!  Fishbone will celebrate 25 years of trailblazing their way through the history of American Ska and Rock Fusion.  Also, check out the renowned saxophonist Ernest Dawkins during Polyrhythm's Third Sunday Jazz event.

 

Friday Live at 5 Live Lunch this week will feature Mo, Tony Hoeppner, and Keith SokoRaise the Roof Thursday, the last Friday Live at 5 of the season, The Pimps, Kidz Days at RME, and Acoustic Music Club round out the list of shows and activities this week at RME.

 

The Figge Art Museum hosts its family event "3...2...1...BLAST OFF" on Saturday where youngsters can experience the wonders of the planets, stars, and galaxies in an interactive space dome!  The Star Lab Planetarium continues today and tomorrow and check out the Figge's film series, Figure Drawing Class, and Tapestry Weaving Class, too.

Sarah Pomeroy helped bring about a revolutionary turn of perspective in which the old adage,  "history is written by and about men,"  no longer holds true.  We will revisit her classic - Goddesses , Whores, Wives, and Slaves - with supplemental material on some dynastic mothers, to see how women lived in ancient Greece and Rome.
Presenter Michael Rosenthal is an Independent Scholar and has completed extensive graduate work in
theology, philosophy and psychology at the St. Paul Seminary and the University of Iowa and Western Illinois University.

Moline, IL - Sept. 7, 2012 - Readmore Book World of Moline will host a book signing and psychic readings by local author Catt Foy on Saturday, September 15th at their store located at 1518 - 15th Street.

Catt Foy is the author of Psycards-A New Alternative to Tarot.  Book signings will take place between 11 A.M. and Noon, followed by $10 mini-readings from Noon until 3 P.M.

Psycards are a 40-card oracle deck based upon psychoanalyst Carl G. Jung's ideas of synchroncity and archetypes.  They are beautifully illustrated by Maggie Kneen, a famous UK children's book illustrator.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS - WQPT hosts the 13th annual Brew Ha Ha at LeClaire Park in downtown Davenport on Saturday, September 15th from 1 to 5 p.m.  A wide variety of ales, pilsners, and porters are available for tasting as well as cheeses provided by Cabot Creamery Cooperative of Vermont.

Tickets for Brew Ha Ha are $25.00 prior to the event and $30.00 at the gate. "We continue to cap the number of tickets sold to insure that our attendees are able to enjoy as many tastings as they like," said WQPT Special Projects Coordinator, Bea Brasel. Tickets may be purchased at the WQPT offices at 3561 60th Street, Moline, Illinois (Western Illinois University 60th Street Campus) and  CO-OP Records in Davenport and Moline and Old Chicago in Bettendorf, (add a $2.00 service fee at these locations).

Musical performances by Minus Six take place at 1 - 2:30 pm and 3:15 to 4:15 pm. The comedy will be provided by The Blacklist Improv Comedy Troupe.  They perform from 2:30 - 3:15 pm. Games return for attendees to try like the Growler Hold, Putt Putt Golf and the "Grand" Prize Game with prizes for everyone. Admission to Brew Ha Ha includes an event program, unlimited tasting, and a commemorative tasting glass.

Don't be afraid!  The Davenport Public Library wants to take you on a Spook Walk.  Join us on Saturday, September 15th at 2:00 p.m. on the front porch of the Main Library (321 Main Street) for some paranormal activity.  On the Spook Walk you will visit over half a dozen sites rumored to be haunted. This walk is approximately 2 miles, so comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water are recommended.
