Semi-Annual Goodwill Sale at Younkers

March 2, 2011 – By purchasing your spring wardrobe essentials at participating Younkers stores, you'll not only look good, you'll do good for your community as well. Between March 9 and 23, Younkers customers who donate clean, gently used clothing and textiles during the semi-annual Goodwill® Sale will receive coupons toward the purchase of new merchandise.

So, while you're showing off your new spring looks, the items you donated to Goodwill will be generating revenues for job training programs and other community-based services for people with disabilities, those who lack education or job experience, and others facing challenges to finding employment.

Participating customers receive one coupon per donated item, 20 items = 20 coupons. The coupons can be used at Younkers locations for 20-percent off regular or sale-price apparel, shoes and accessories and fine jewelry and 15-percent off cosmetics, fragrances and home store merchandise. Certain items, including furniture, electronics and toys, qualify for a 10-percent discount. During the fall 2010 sale, close to four million pounds of clothing and textiles were donated.

"Long-time partnerships like the semi-annual Goodwill Sale at Younkers Stores enhance our ability to acquire high-quality donated goods for our stores," said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "Store revenues support our mission of providing training and employment services that put people back to work and strengthen families."

"The Goodwill Sale is a signature event for our stores," says Bud Bergren, president and chief executive officer of  The Younkers Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT). "Customers receive a substantial discount while donating items to an important cause.  The Goodwill Sale exemplifies our commitment to the communities in which we do business."

Customers who register their donations at http://millionactsofgoodwill.comwill also receive a special 25-percent-off coupon to use during the Goodwill Sale as a thank you for their contributions. You can also play the site's "Spin-to-Win Instant Win Game" daily for a chance to win a $100 gift card, and be automatically entered in the sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip for two to New York City to see LIVE! with Regis & Kelly.

DAVENPORT, IOWA – Kelly's Irish Pub and Eatery, located at 2222 E. 53rd, Avenue, Davenport, IA since 2004, will host its seventh annual St. Patrick's Day Party, Saturday, March 12th.  With doors opening at six o'clock in the morning, over one ton of corn beef and two hundred kegs of beer, Kelly's has established what it believes to be the largest St. Patrick's Day celebration in Iowa.

But largest is not only defined by the amount of food and beverages served. The family-owned restaurant and pub expands its hospitality outside of its doors by taking over two parking lots with a 9,000 square foot, 29 foot tall, heated tent. Staffing is ramped up to over 50 servers, waitresses and Leprechauns.

Speaking of Leprechauns, Kelly's St. Patrick's Day party will be featuring, once again, the crowd pleasing Skydiving Leprechauns. Working with the Quad City Skydiving Center, in Geneseo, Kelly's will be the team's St. Pat's Day landing zone again for the 6th year, as up to 25 trained skydivers jump from 5,000 feet dressed as Leprechauns and make a dramatic from-the-air entrance amidst the cheering crowd.

Owner Dan Kelly states, "Planning for this event began last year, shortly after our sixth annual bash. It is very fulfilling to see all the families and friends that turn out. Old friends re-connect at this event all the time and the party atmosphere can't be beat."
Great food is a great tradition at Kelly's and in less than twenty four hours, Kelly's team will serve up over two thousand pounds of slow-cooked corned beef, either as a sandwich or as a traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner, complete with roasted red potatoes. What better fare to soak up the adult beverages that will be served in form of two-hundred kegs of Green Beer and Guinness?

The celebration is not complete without live entertainment and on March 12th the Kelly's tent will be alive with the sounds of everything from roving bagpipers to the heel clicking of the Mulane Healy O'Brien Irish Dancers. There will be something for everyone's musical tastes with a wide variety of live rock bands, playing originals and covers from the 70's to today. Complete line-up below.

The Kelly's St. Patrick's Day party is a family affair, with a magician, a juggler, balloons for the kids (and events and attractions still being added). The Mulane Healy O'Brien Irish Dancers are always a thrill for families with children and the afternoonn music line-up features the Myers Brothers Band, middle-schoolers from St. Paul's Catholic School in Davenport.

The event has consistently been growing its audience since 2005 and Kelly's owner Dan Kelly says he is expecting more than 10,000 attendees. There is no fee for admittance, with plenty of parking on 52nd St., as well as in lots across 53rd Ave. Says Kelly, "We are seeing folks coming in from Des Moines, Dubuque and Iowa City. It's become a regional draw to the Quad Cities."

The featured speaker at this year's event will be Henry Posner III, Chairman of the Railroad Development Corporation, an international railway investment and management company, and the Iowa Interstate Railroad (IAIS), a 592-mile (954 km) regional carrier connecting Chicago, the Quad Cities, and Omaha. More information on Mr. Posner can be found here:

http://www.rrdc.com/mgmt_bio_posner.html

Posner will give an illustrated presentation on:

A Bridge to the Future

Iowa Interstate, the Quad Cities, and the U. S. Rail Industry

Iowa Interstate's predecessor, the Rock Island Lines, has a rich history (including the first railroad bridge to cross the Mississippi and Abraham Lincoln defending the railroad). Recent railroad history has been even more dramatic with the transition from regulation and bankruptcy to deregulation and sustainability. From the ashes of the Rock Island, the IAIS was formed at the grassroots level by rail users and state transportation people. The company today stands as an industry success with rebuilt infrastructure, new locomotives, and a broad portfolio of customers, many locating on the line precisely because of its status as an independent railway company. The proposed Amtrak passenger route to the Quad Cities is possible because the IAIS survived as a freight carrier.

Posner's presentation will be preceded by a pictorial history recalling the golden age of passenger rail service in the Quad Cities by Curtis C. Roseman and John Wetzel. The event will also include a variety of railroad-related displays.

Each person registered for the 2011 Farnam Dinner will receive a free pass to the Figge Art Museum exhibition Tracks, which features railroad photographs from the George Eastman House Collection. A raffle will be conducted; prizes will include tickets for railroad excursions to be held in association with the July 2011 Train Festival in Rock Island.

East Moline, IL/January 28, 2011 - Chad Pregracke's Quad Cities-based environmental group needs volunteers to help in a project to improve the future of area waterways. Living Lands & Waters, an East Moline, Illinois non-profit organization is planning to distribute 100,000 free oak tree saplings in April as part of LL&W's "MillionTrees Project." The goal of the project is to improve the health of rivers in the Midwest, by re-establishing hardwoods that have been depleted by over-harvesting, flooding and disease.

Volunteers, including families with children, are invited to take part in tree wrapping events being held throughout March. "Wrapping 100,000 trees takes a lot of work" said Chad Pregracke, founder and President of Living Lands & Waters. Pregracke adds, "It's a great venue to help the community and educate people on why trees are important."

Trees provide shelter and nut-bearing hardwoods are a viable food source for wildlife and migratory birds. Slow-growing hardwoods like oaks have a harder time re-establishing themselves without help, and are often crowded out by faster growing species, like cottonwoods, willow and silver maples. Re-establishing hardwoods help increase biodiversity, reduce erosion and run-off and improve water and air quality.

Individual registration is not required, but strongly encouraged. Groups of 5 or more must pre-register. Volunteers can stay for an hour or all day. For questions or to register, please contact Ashley Stover at Ashley@livinglandsandwaters.org or at 309.737.5913.

Tree wrapping events will occur at the following places and locations:

QCCA Expo Center, Rock Island:

Saturday, March 19 8am - 4pm

-Sunday, March 20 8am - 4pm

-Monday, March 21 11am - 8pm

-Tuesday, March 22 11am - 8pm

Volunteers should show up at the North Hall of the QCCA Expo Center, 2621 4th Avenue, Rock Island.

LL&W Headquarters@ (17624 Rte. 84 N, East Moline, IL)

-March 1-5, 8am - 5pm -March 14-17, 8am - 5pm

- March 7-12, 8am - 5pm -March 28 - April 2, 8am - 5pm

Volunteers will be asked to help with the following: bundling trees in newspaper, placing trees in bags, tying, tagging, or organizing them. Participating children MUST be supervised. Volunteers are asked to wear warm and comfortable clothes that can get dirty.

Trees will be distributed in April to individuals, families, agencies, business and organizations throughout the Midwest. The saplings will also be distributed to the general public during the QCCA Lawn and Garden Show, March 25-27th on a first come, first served basis. The goal of the MillionTrees Project is to grow and plant 1 MILLION trees.

Anyone interested in volunteering or reserving free oak saplings for planting may contact MillionTrees Project Coordinator, Ashley Stover at Ashley@livinglandsandwaters.org or at 309.737.5913. More information on the MillionTrees Project can be found at www.livinglandsandwaters.org/milliontrees.
