DES MOINES, IOWA (April 6, 2020) — On April 4, Governor Kim Reynolds received word from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that more than $44 million has been obligated to the State of Iowa for reimbursement of expenses related to the COVID-19 response.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 3, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 85 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19, for a total of 699 positive cases. There have been a total of 8,764 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 3, 2020) — On April 2, Governor Kim Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration. The proclamation orders the closure of schools until April 30, waiving time requirements as long as school districts put in place a continuous learning-plan.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 2, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 66 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19, for a total of 614 positive cases. According to IDPH, two additional deaths were reported; 2 older adults (61-80) of Linn County. There have been a total of 8,054 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 1, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 52 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19, for a total of 549 positive cases. According to IDPH, 2 additional deaths were reported; one elderly adult (81+) in Polk County, and one elderly adult (81+) in Washington County. There have been a total of 7,304 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 1, 2020) — On March 31, Governor Kim Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration. The proclamation extends regulatory relief allowing bars and restaurants to provide carry-out or delivery of alcoholic beverages until April 7, 2020. It also authorizes the sale of mixed drinks and cocktails for carry-out or delivery through April 7, 2020.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 1, 2020) — Governor Kim Reynolds appointed Gregory Samorajski, former Deputy Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue, as the next CEO of the Iowa Public Employee Retirement System (IPERS). Samorajski replaces retiring CEO Donna Mueller, who has served in that role since 2003. The appointment is effective May 1, 2020, and is subject to confirmation by the Iowa Senate.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 31, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 73 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19, for a total of 497 positive cases. One death was reported in Muscatine County, a middle-aged (41-60) resident. There have been a total of 6,888 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 30, 2020) — On March 29, The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) was notified of 38 additional positive cases of Iowans with COVID-19, for a total of 336 positive cases. There have been a total of 5,013 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.

According to IDPH, one Iowan with COVID-19 passed away Saturday night, an older adult (61-80 years) from Linn County.
