A gifted painter with two masters degrees from the University of Iowa, Franklin Evans will host a special, virtual studio tour for the Figge Art Museum on September 23, the artist's current installation at the Davenport venue – franklinsfootpaths exploring elements of Evans' personal history in Iowa while also encouraging new ways of experiencing the Quad Cities museum.

A traditional Mexican holiday is being celebrated in high style at Davenport's Figge Art Museum through Day of the Dead, an installation – on display through November 7 – that explores how we celebrate and remember the lives of our lost loved ones through the collective traditions, art-making, and storytelling that are among its integral elements.

The timeless musical tale of boy, girl, and man-eating plant, the beloved and iconic stage sensation Little Shop of Horrors enjoys a September 24 through October 3 run at Moline's Spotlight Theatre, this Tony-nominated delight an early hit for its composers and eventual Oscar winners Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin) and, according to the New York Times, a show that remains “a genially gruesome classic.”

A legendary cult comedy that wound up grossing more than 100 times its reported $400,000 budget and ranks as number 14 on Bravo's list of history's 100 funniest movies, 2004's deliriously deadpan riot Napoleon Dynamite enjoys its long-awaited screening at Davenport's Adler Theatre on September 25, the evening highlighted by a special in-person conversation with three of the film's stars: Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez, and Jon Cries.

Designed to celebrate the end of a lively summer of outdoor events in the Quad Cities, Davenport's River Music Experience (RME), Downtown Rock Island, and the Bix Jazz Society team up to present the NOLA Block Party on September 18, an outdoor bash in downtown Rock Island's Great River Plaza boasting a concert set by the nationally recognized, New Orleans-based jazz musicians of Tuba Skinny.

One of the Figge Art Museum's most POP-ular current exhibitions will be explored virtually on September 16 when José Carlos Diaz, Chief Curator at the Andy Warhol Museum, discusses the exciting and arresting works on display in the Davenport venue's POP Power From Warhol to Koons: Masterworks from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation.

On September 19, the German American Heritage Center's series of virtual Sunday-afternoon programs gets musical when the Davenport venue hosts the online program Gender & Activism in German Hip Hop, a fascinating and insightful look at current European trends presented by doctoral candidate Amy Makota.

The life – and specifically the clothing – of one of the most beloved and revered authors of all time will be the subject of Davenport Public Library's latest virtual program in its monthly 3rd Thursday at Hoover's series, with Dunlap Public Library director Laura Keyes speaking on 19th-century wardrobe choices in the September 16 presentation Little Fashionista on the Prairie.
