Composed of Dave “Dixie” Collins, Dave “Shep” Shepherd, and Ramzi Ateyeh – the former two having co-founded the group nearly a quarter-century ago – the fired-up sludge-metal musicians of Weedeater headline a May 21 concert at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, the group's most recent album Goliathan described by Angry Metal Guy as “an intoxicating examination of Southern culture and arguably the most tongue-in-cheek approximation of their sludgy, stoner sound thus far delivered.”

Now celebrating their tenth year of genre-hopping performance, the tribute musicians of Have Your Cake serve as the showcased musical guests at The Tangled Wood on May 20, their concert in the Bettendorf venue's “Summer 2022 Music Lineup” boasting hits from the Cake repertoire that includes such albums as Comfort Eagle, Pressure Chief, and the Billboard chart-topper Showroom of Compassion.

Continuing the Redstone Room's concert-event programming under the "All Sweat Original Series" banner, in which local songwriters are paired up alongside outstanding area musicians to act as their own personal backing band, the Davenport venue will host three sensational headliners in its May 19 presentation: Karl Beatty, Angela Meyer, and Michael Moncada.

The iconic artist behind chart-topping albums Tapestry, Music, and Wrap Around Joy will be celebrated at Davenport's Rhythm City Casino Resort Rhythm Room on May 20 when the venue hosts vocalist Adrianne Hall's A Tribute to Carole King an hour of music featuring songs made famous by the legend behind “It's Too Late,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” “Jazzman,” “Nightingale,” and other timeless hits.

With their most recent album Built to Spill Plays the Songs of Daniel Johnston lauded by American Songwriter as "a near-perfect marriage of pop rock sensibilities and lyrical sincerity," the revered indie rockers of Built to Spill headline a May 25 concert at Maquoketa's Codfish Hollow Barn, the musicians currently celebrating three decades of live performance and the forthcoming release of their 10th full-length recording When the Wind Forgets Your Name.

I love the band Wombat. Iowa City’s most ferocious young free-improvisational trio brings the noise once again with Tapas de Wombat, an EP-length selection of shorter, more diverse tracks when compared to 2021’s great full-length Befriend the Giant.

Rock Island-based poet/rapper/producer Aubs. (period intentional) has been a stalwart of the Quad Cities hip-hop and DIY scenes for a number of years now, and has built a catalog of strong albums and EPs stretching back to around 2019. His newest drop, Politik’n., is a slim four-track affair that clocks in at fewer than 15 minutes, but the artist packs plenty of deep thought and compelling work into that short running time.

The trademark tenor of Russell Hitchcock's soaring voice and Graham Russell's simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply, and on May 13, the band's co-founders will play an eagerly anticipated concert event at Davenport's Rhythm City Casino Resort Event Center, their collection of iconic, adored hits including such pop staples as "All Out of Love," "Making Love Out of Nothing at All," and "Every Woman in the World."

One of the most popular and beloved animated musicals of all time will find its timeless tunes played live on May 14 when the Quad City Symphony Orchestra and Davenport's Adler Theatre present the latest in the QCSO at the Movies Series: a concert version of Disney's Frozen, with the movie itself shown in high-definition on a huge screen, and its magical score and songs performed by the symphony's musicians as conducted by Ernesto Estigarribia.

Lauded by the Milwaukee Record for their “intriguing lyrics, rich harmonies, and excellent musicianship,” the Wisconsin-based bluegrass talents of Chicken Wire Empire make their Quad Cities debut at Davenport's Redstone Room on May 13, the ensemble inspiring Bluegrass Unlimited to rave that “the vocals and harmonies are strong, and they play with a high-energy blend of traditional and modern approaches.”
