MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (September 9, 2019) — A scholar who has combined her research with service to others will help dedicate Monmouth College's Center for Civic and Social Change on September 14.

Dr Esther Ngumbi, an entomologist at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), who has founded organizations that empower farmers and youth in Kenya, will give the keynote address at the dedication of the center.

WASHINGTON DC (September 9, 2019) — Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced that agricultural producers affected by natural disasters in 2018 and 2019, including Hurricane Dorian, can apply for assistance through the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+). Signup for this US Department of Agriculture (USDA) program will begin September 11, 2019.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 9, 2019) — The second annual TEDxYouth@Davenport event will be held at the Putnam Museum in Davenport, Iowa on March 29, 2020. The event will focus on having youth presenters, between the ages of 15-24, share "ideas worth spreading". Today officially opens the “call for speakers” applications, open to Quad Cities area high school and regional college students.

MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS (September 9, 2019) Support of innovative academic programs and a high social mobility rank helped Monmouth College continue its rise in US News and World Report's Best Colleges.

The guide's 2020 edition, released September 9, places Monmouth N° 124 nationally in the publication's "National Liberal Arts Colleges" category. That's 11 spots higher than where the College was in 2018, and it is an increase of almost 50 spots since 2013.
