Friday, November 9, 2018 marks the official start to Gilda’s Club Quad Cities’ 20th year. To celebrate achieving this special milestone, the community is invited to join with them in celebration on Friday, November 9 from 6 – 9pm at the Redstone Room; 129 Main St, Davenport.

The evening will consist of a cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres and cake mixed with live music courtesy of the “Quad City SNL Band” featuring members of the “Candymakers.”

Ascentra Credit Union is now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year for their annual scholarship competition.  A total of $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded to ten of their members to help offset the costs of attending a college or university. Scholarships will be awarded as follows:

·         Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school students planning to enter college

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate and Hy-Vee are joining forces to pay tribute to Iowa’s military veterans. Hy-Vee stores celebrate Veterans Day each year by offering a free breakfast to all veterans and active-duty military members as a way of thanking them for their service.

On Friday, November 9th at 0900, the Scott County Sheriff's Office will hold a Swearing In Ceremony in the Sheriff's Office Conference Room on the second floor of the Scott County Courthouse. Curt Wilson, Christopher Laye, Douglass Adams and Jonathon Johnson have been hired as the newest deputy sheriffs for Scott County.

City of Davenport will observe Veterans Day as a holiday on Monday, November 12th, 2018.

All City of Davenport offices & the Public Works Center will be closed.

Police Department front desk and records office will be closed.

Library Main, Fairmount and Eastern branches will be closed.

Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed.

Rivers Edge will be open with normal business hours.

Vander Veer Conservatory will be closed.

“Volcanoes: The Fires of Creation 3D” will erupt in the Putnam Museum and Science Center’s GIANT Screen Theater Saturday. An exclusive members-only preview party that includes volcano-themed family fun will take place on Friday.
