Former President joined Get America Covered organizing call to get people ready for final push to sign up for coverage before December 15 deadline

(DES MOINES) – Citing Iowa’s 17-year low unemployment rate, strength of the state’s pension fund, AAA credit rating and low poverty rate, Iowa has been named the 3rd best-run state in the nation, according to a 24/7 Wall St. analysis. That’s up three spots from No. 6 in 2016.

The study’s authors ranked states using four criteria: 2016 unemployment, pension funded ratio, credit rating and outlook, and poverty.

Kurt Kovarik joins National Biodiesel Board as VP of Federal Affairs

(ANKENY, Iowa) –  The National Biodiesel Board has announced that Kurt Kovarik, legislative director for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), will join the trade association’s Washington D.C. office as Vice President of Federal Affairs. Iowa Biodiesel Board Executive Director Grant Kimberley issued the following statement:

Burlington/Wever, December 12, 2017 – Goodwill of the Heartland is the recipient of a generous office furniture donation from Orascom Construction and Iowa Fertilizer Company. The nonprofit organization recently received more than 100,000 pounds of donated items including office chairs, desks, tables, filing cabinets, bookcases and cubicles.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, along with Iowa Business Council (IBC) Chairman and Ruan Transportation Management Systems CEO Ben McLean, announced that the Iowa Business Council’s members have pledged to hire 30,000 interns, externs and apprentices by the year 2025. The pledge is part of the council’s commitment to collaborate with state government to strengthen Iowa’s talent pipeline.

(Rock Island, IL) Approximately 25 refugee families from eight countries speaking eleven different dialects will gather Thursday, December 14th for a fun-filled day of traditional Christmas activities.  The day, organized by Spring Forward Learning Center teachers, begins at 9:30 am with cookie decorating followed by a 10 am visit from Santa Claus at the Church of Peace (1114 12th Street Rock Island).

Thunder Bay Grille will be hosting a breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 16th, 2017, from 9am-12pm. The event will include stories with Santa and traditional breakfast favorites such as: Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Cheddar Casserole, Biscuits and Gravy, French Toast, Waffles, Assorted Pastries, Desserts, plus much more.
