Delivering their first public performances since the March shutdown of theatres nationwide, the professional dancers of Ballet Quad Cities return with three August 30 presentations of Ballet on the Lawn, a collection of upbeat, genre-spanning dance vignettes being performed outdoors at the Davenport venue The Outing Club.

Baby Yoda fans of all ages are invited to bring their knowledge of the adorable green imp – and the sci-fi series he appears in – to Crawford Brew Works on August 29, with the Bettendorf venue providing competition, prizes, and Star Wars ephemera galore in its trivia afternoon themed on the popular and acclaimed Disney+ sensation The Mandalorian.

Although there are changes in store for this year's event, River Action's 11th-annual celebration of paddle sports Floatzilla is still set for launch on August 15, with participants and spectators gathering at Rock Island's Sunset Park in their kayaks and canoes to enjoy a day in the great outdoors while maintaining safe social-distancing measures.

Wrapping up the annually popular outdoor programs that have provided Quad Citians with entertainment and education for years, topics such as flood preparation, downtown Rock Island, and construction of the I-74 Bridge will be explored in River Action's season-ending presentations of Channel Cat Talks and Riverine Walks – “Explore the River Series” celebrations of the Quad Cities' unique culture and landscape taking place several times weekly from August 4 through 29.

Fans of America's Founding Fathers and recent musical-theatre smashes can all be in “the room where it happens” on July 23, as Bettendorf's Crawford Brew Works hosts an 8 p.m. Hamilton Trivia Night, with “house cash” and other prizes awarded and all the evening's questions concerning either Alexander Hamilton himself or the Broadway smash that bears his name.

On July 20, the Davenport Public Library will be hosting a virtual M.E.S.S. – an hour of Music, Education, Stories, and Science – when a noted children's entertainer and popular storyteller appears in the Facebook Live presentation The Figment Follies with Will Stuck, an online program designed in conjunction with the library's 2020 Summer Reading theme “Imagine Your Story.”
