IOWA CITY, IOWA (April 8, 2020) — Allie Stutting was worried about her own grandparents when she first began to hear of a possible spread of coronavirus in the US and its effect on the elderly and other at-risk populations.

But it was a tweet about people she didn't know that propelled her to take action: An elderly couple in Oregon had flagged down a woman in a store parking lot, asking her to shop for them because they were fearful to go inside.

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA (April 2, 2020) — Joe Field of Bettendorf, Iowa, is one of the 61 cadets who will comprise the Summerall Guards for The Citadel Class of 2021.

During normal times, the changing of the guard ceremony would have taken place on this day as part of the annual Corps Day/Recognition Day weekend ceremonies. The Class of 2020 Summerall Guards would have performed their last precision drills as a unit and then passed their rifles to the new platoon.

FOREST GROVE, OREGON (March 30, 2020) — Michaela Nash of Rock Island, Illinois, was named to the dean's list at Pacific University for the Fall 2019 semester. The dean's list recognizes undergraduate students in Pacific's College of Arts and Sciences who earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5.

CANTON, MISSOURI (March 30, 2020) — Congratulations to Grant Aller on being accepted into Culver-Stockton College's incoming class for the fall 2020 semester.

Aller, from Bettendorf, Iowa, and a senior at Pleasant Valley Community High School, also was awarded the Promise Scholarship, a $6,000 per year scholarship for four years. This scholarship is awarded based upon academic credentials and is renewable provided the student remains in good academic standing.
