Ceremony at Old State Capitol recognizes high-achievers from each Illinois college and university

SPRINGFIELD (Nov. 11, 2017) — Outstanding students representing Illinois’ colleges and universities were honored today by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois during the annual Student Laureate Convocation at the Old State Capitol in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD – The top students representing Illinois’ colleges and universities will be honored by The Lincoln Academy of Illinois during the annual Student Laureate Convocation at 11a.m. Saturday, November 11 at the Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield. This is the 43rd year The Lincoln Academy has celebrated students’ excellence in Illinois.

APPLETON, WIS. (November 10, 2017) - Nick Fahrenkrug, son of Thomas and Theresa Fahrenkrug, Davenport, earned first-place honors in the sophomore's men division at the recent (Nov. 2-4) Wisconsin chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition. He received $150 for his first-place finish. A sophomore at Lawrence University, Fahrenkrug is a 2016 graduate of Central High School.

DES MOINES – Thousands of elementary, middle school and high school students across Iowa participated in Secretary of State Paul Pate’s 2017 Iowa Youth Straw Poll on Wednesday. The Straw Poll is an exercise designed to inspire civic engagement among Iowa’s youth and give them a feel for how the electoral process works.
