Good morning everybody! Here is the latest update from Public Works.

Snow has been on-going through the overnight and is not expected to end until around 9AM this morning, Wednesday, January 23. Public Works crews will remain focused on plowing and salting Posted Snow Routes until they are clear before entering residential areas. The area has received approximately six inches of snow, and another one to three inches is expected to fall before the snow ends.

The Supreme Court will soon issue a decision in Janus v. AFSCME, Council 31. We’ll leave the dire predictions and hyperbole to the pundits. This memo is focused on the facts so that you and readers can fully understand the implications of this important case.

SPRINGFIELD (May 11, 2018) — On the heels of the failure of the General Assembly to advance two major initiatives to help end the culture of corruption in Illinois, Gov. Bruce Rauner and Rep. Grant Wehrli (R-Naperville) today proposed giving Illinois the toughest public corruption penalties in the country to hold public officials accountable.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags on the Capitol Complex to be lowered to half-staff from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, in observance of the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony. Flags at the Iowa Peace Officer Memorial, located at the Oran Pape State Office Building, will be flown at half-staff the week of May 13-19, 2018, in honor of National Police Week.
