WASHINGTON DC (June 20, 2019) — House Agriculture Committee Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Chairman Filemon Vela of Texas delivered the following remarks at the subcommittee hearing on how farm policy helps farmers in adverse conditions.

“Good morning and thank you all for joining us here today to discuss how farm policy helps farmers take on the challenges they face this year.

WASHINGTON DC (June 20, 2019) — Today, the US House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Chairman Filemon Vela held a hearing on Crop Insurance, Risk Management, and Federal Disaster Programs, “How Farm Policy Helps Farmers in Adverse Conditions.” The hearing included six witnesses discussing the economic hardships and extreme-weather conditions farmers and ranchers face and how current farm policies help address those challenges.

LENEXA, KANSAS (June 5, 2019) — Today, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing that the cities of Dubuque, Fort Dodge, and Oskaloosa, Iowa have been selected to receive $1.6 million in EPA Brownfields funding through the Multipurpose, Assessment, and Cleanup (MAC) Grant program. These funds will help assess and clean up abandoned industrial and commercial properties in these communities.
