DES MOINES, IOWA (August 7, 2020)  Governor Kim Reynolds and The Iowa Department of Education announced that $26.2 million is now available to districts, nonpublic schools, and colleges and universities, primarily to increase internet-connectivity for students for the 2020-21 school year.

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 27, 2020) Governor Kim Reynolds today announced her appointment of John Flynn as a district court judge in Judicial Election District 2B.

Flynn, of Boone, Iowa, currently practices law with the Jordan and Mahoney Law Firm PC in Boone. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and his law degree from the Drake University Law School.

Included in the March 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act were three programs with less-euphonious acronyms: FPUC, PEUC, and PUA. These programs extended (by 13 weeks), expanded (to self-employed workers), and added a $600-per-week federal kicker to, state-level unemployment benefits. As July comes to a close, more than 25 million Americans are about to lose that federal kicker.
