DES MOINES, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — In response to Governor Kim Reynolds' recent disaster declarations for five additional Iowa counties — Clinton, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, and Wapello —  the Iowa Department of Revenue has granted an extension and suspension of any penalty or interest for taxpayers whose principal residence or business is located in these counties.

On May 7, voters in Denver, Colorado narrowly approved a measure de-criminalizing "magic mushrooms" — mushrooms containing the consciousness-altering compound psilocybin. The measure, National Public Radio reports, "effectively bars the city from prosecuting or arresting adults 21 or older who possess them. In the ballot language, adults can even grow the fungus for personal use and be considered a low priority for Denver police."

The awards further recognize the districts for their collaboration with EMC Insurance Companies (EMC) to prevent employee injuries and to control workers' compensation expenses. 

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 8, 2019) — The Salvation Army will open a Flood Donation Center on Friday, May 10, 2019. The Flood Donation Center will be a location for individuals to donate items, and to receive items. The Flood Donation Center will serve residents of Scott and Rock Island Counties. The location is at the former Office Max building near North Park Mall, 320 West Kimberly Road in Davenport.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 8, 2019) — Entries for the competitive events at the 2019 Iowa State Fair are now being accepted by mail or online at iowastatefair.org.

The Iowa State Fair boasts a variety of competitive-event categories, including the largest Food Department of any state fair, the state's largest art show, one of the largest livestock shows in the world, and Iowa's finest exhibits of agricultural commodities and photography.
