DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 15, 2019) — Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of World War II by joining Kevin Braafladt, the Army Sustainment Command Deputy Historian at the Rock Island Arsenal, in exploring the history of the momentous invasion of Europe on Normandy Beach and the subsequent Battle of Normandy. One of the most widely-known battles from World War II, the battle at Normandy Beach required strategic planning and cooperation between the Allied forces.

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (May 15, 2019) — In a rebuke to the practice of subjecting prisoners to solitary confinement, a federal appeals court has held that a Virginia prison violated the Constitution’s prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment by confining death-row inmates to parking-space sized cells in virtual isolation.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 14, 2019) — Scott County Secondary Roads and Scott County Conservation, in partnership with the Waste Commission of Scott County, will be assisting residents of unincorporated Scott County impacted by the recent Mississippi River and Wapsipinicon River flooding with flood debris collection. Collection will begin on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 and proceed through the county as outlined below.
