MOLINE, ILLINOIS (May 18, 2021) May was an exciting month for WQPT winning a Communicator Award “Award of Excellence” in the Writing-Column/Editorial category for an article Director of Education Michael Carton wrote for Quad City Family Focus Magazine titled “Advice from Elmo,” which had been published in June 2020.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (May 3, 2021) — The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Labor Council, which represents the rank and file of the Rock Island Police Department, issued the following statement from Executive Director Shawn Roselieb on Friday, April 30, regarding recent anti-police remarks made by Rock Island Alderman Dylan Parker:

JOHNSTON, IOWA (April 21, 2021) — High-school students in Iowa can get a unique glimpse into the world of television production and public media while gaining practical and valuable experience in the industry. In order to broaden opportunities for minority and female-identifying high-school students, Iowa PBS is offering a television production mentorship program for summer 2021.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (April 20, 2021) — WQPT, PBS for the Quad Cities region began airing Ken Burns’s new three-part, six-hour film Hemingway on Thursday, April 15. Parts two and three air on April 22 and 29 at 9PM.
