DES MOINES, IOWA (April 15, 2019) — Iowans will gather to pay tribute to those Iowans who lost their lives in 2018 while on the job at the annual Workers’ Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, April 29, at 11AM. The ceremony will be held at the State Capitol, West Terrace lawn. In case of inclement-weather, the ceremony will be held in the Wallace Building Auditorium 502 E 9th Street. in Des Moines.

WASHINGTON DC (April 15, 2019) — Senators Charles "Chuck" Grassley and Joni Ernst of Iowa joined Sen Mike Enzi of Wyoming and a bipartisan group of colleagues in introducing legislation to prevent thousands of people from losing their health-care coverage after a federal judge struck down the Department of Labor’s Association Health Plans rule.

WASHINGTON DC (April 15, 2019) — To help residents, farmers, and ranchers affected by the devastation caused by recent flooding, US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue has directed the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to aid Iowans in their recovery efforts. DES MOINES, IOWA (April 12, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds today received word that additional-assistance is now available to public and non-profit entities in flood-impacted counties.

A disaster declaration, issued by President Trump on March 23, 2019, made 56 counties eligible to apply for emergency-work and emergency protective-measures assistance under the federal Public Assistance Program.

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN (April 12, 2019) — A five-run sixth inning propelled the Quad Cities River Bandits to an 8-3 series-opening victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Miller Park in Milwaukee on Friday night. During the big inning, the Bandits collected five hits, four of them going for extra bases, to break away from a 2-2 tie. The win is the fourth in a row for the Quad Cities.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 12, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds extended existing proclamations of disaster emergency for counties impacted by March flooding.

This proclamation extends the governor’s March 14 activation of Iowa’s disaster-response and recovery efforts for an additional 30 days, to May 12, 2019, and allows state-resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather across the entire state.
