DES MONIES, IOWA (February 11, 2019) — Secretary of State Paul Pate announces Iowans almost broke the state record for most new businesses created in one month during January 2019. The Secretary of State’s Office processed 2,195 new business filings last month. That is just nine filings shy of the previous record of 2,204, set in March 2018.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 11, 2019) — The Iowa Democratic Party will release their Delegate Selection Plan and proposed changes to the 2020 Iowa Caucuses today at 2:30PM. Included in the plan will be the proposed changes to the 2020 Iowa Democratic Caucuses.

Unless Congress and the Trump administration reach a new spending deal by February 15, the federal government will go back into "partial shutdown" status. As of February 10, congressional negotiators seem to be nearing agreement on a deal that includes about $2 billion in funding for President Trump's "border wall" project. Trump, as before the recent shutdown, is seeking $5.7 billion.

WASHINGTON DC (February 8, 2019) — Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley continued his inquiry into inappropriate payments made by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to professionals within the electronic health records (EHR) program after a 2017 watchdog report indicated the payments could amount to more than $700 million.
