Unless Congress and the Trump administration reach a new spending deal by February 15, the federal government will go back into "partial shutdown" status. As of February 10, congressional negotiators seem to be nearing agreement on a deal that includes about $2 billion in funding for President Trump's "border wall" project. Trump, as before the recent shutdown, is seeking $5.7 billion.

WASHINGTON DC (February 8, 2019) — Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley continued his inquiry into inappropriate payments made by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to professionals within the electronic health records (EHR) program after a 2017 watchdog report indicated the payments could amount to more than $700 million.

WASHINGTON DC (February 8, 2019) — Congressman Dave Loebsack released the following statement today after the House passed HR 840, The Veterans' Access to Child Care Act. This legislation will make permanent, and expand, the VA’s Child Care Pilot Program to ensure our veterans have access to convenient, safe and cost-free child care when they have VA medical appointments, including mental healthcare appointments.
