WASHINGTON DC (February 18, 2019) — Senator Kamala Harris will make her second trip to Iowa as a Democratic presidential candidate February 23-24, where she will hold town hall meetings in Ankeny and Scott County, speak at an event hosted by the Iowa Democratic Party Black Caucus, and participate in several community conversations. SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (February 18, 2019) — Mental health problems are pervasive in Illinois. More than 2.5 million Illinoisans, including an estimated 850,000 young people under age 25, struggle with some form of mental health condition, from mild to severe. And far too many — the majority of Illinoisans with mental health issues — who need treatment are forced to go without.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's administration has confirmed that its new public pension plan will slash $800 million from the state's scheduled pension-payment next fiscal year, which begins July 1.

That reduction is a direct result of Pritzker's proposal, unveiled last week by Deputy Gov Dan Hynes, which would extend the state's pension-payment "ramp" by seven years, from 2045 to 2052.
