DES MOINES, IOWA (February 11, 2019) — Today, the Iowa Democratic Party (IDP) proposed the most historic changes to the caucus process since its creation in 1972. The IDP will now offer six additional opportunities for people to participate through a series of virtual caucuses, and will streamline realignment and recount procedures.

DES MONIES, IOWA (February 11, 2019) — Secretary of State Paul Pate announces Iowans almost broke the state record for most new businesses created in one month during January 2019. The Secretary of State’s Office processed 2,195 new business filings last month. That is just nine filings shy of the previous record of 2,204, set in March 2018.

Unless Congress and the Trump administration reach a new spending deal by February 15, the federal government will go back into "partial shutdown" status. As of February 10, congressional negotiators seem to be nearing agreement on a deal that includes about $2 billion in funding for President Trump's "border wall" project. Trump, as before the recent shutdown, is seeking $5.7 billion.
