DUBUQUE, IOWA (December 13, 2019) — The Iowa Environmental Council appeared before the Iowa Utilities Board this week in Dubuque, Iowa, to encourage the Board to approve the Cardinal-Hickory Creek transmission line in order to facilitate more renewable energy development in Iowa.

WASHINGTON DC (November 7, 2019) — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler announced that EPA’s Office of Environmental Education is now accepting applications for the 2020 Presidential Environmental Youth Awards (PEYA) and Presidential Innovation Awards for Environmental Educators (PIAEE). Winners will be invited to Washington DC in mid-2020 to be honored by the agency and present their work in a poster session.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (September 30, 2019) — The Quad City International Airport will have approximately 50% of its current energy-demand paid for with a new rooftop and car-port mounted photovoltaic solar-system. The solar panels will be supported by new canopies covering more than 200 short-term parking-spaces and newly-constructed walkway sidewalks, as well as solar panels on the terminal rooftop.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (September 18, 2019) — Analysis of the solar programs proposed by Alliant Energy as part of its rate case shows that customers would benefit more from investing in their own solar system than participating in Alliant’s proposed community solar project.

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA (July 24, 2019) — Despite a nationwide recall issued in 2015, some 15.4 million vehicles in the United States are still equipped with Takata air bags that pose a potentially deadly risk to drivers and passengers. The recall involves 19 different automakers and more than 150 model and year combinations. AAA is urging drivers to determine if their vehicle is affected by the recall and, if it is, to have the air bag repaired — at no cost — as soon as possible.
