MOLINE, Ill. - Share Quad Cities - an organization offering healing for those touched by the loss of a baby through pregnancy loss, still birth or in the first few months of life - will hold its Second Annual Walk for Remembrance & Hope on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Registrations are due Sept. 5. The event will be held at Prospect Park, 16th Street and 30th Avenue, Moline. Proceeds from this event allow the organization to continue to support families at no charge.

"This walk is such a wonderful event," said Kara Warren, Share Quad Cities member. "I love being able to celebrate the life of my baby, however short it may have been, with others who truly understand exactly what I am going through. It is so nice to have such loving support."

Check-in begins at 9 a.m. The memorial begins at 10 a.m. Names of babies lost will be read and flower petals will be floated in the lagoon, followed by a walk with music.

The $20 registration fee includes a T-shirt with baby's name, memorial program and flower to float. A $10 adult registration or $8 child registration includes a T-shirt and flower petals to float. Also, consider creating a poem, letter, message to baby or a hopeful message to other bereaved parents. Don't want a T-shirt or memorial program? Just come and walk with us.

Bettendorf, August 15, 2011 –   The Grapes of Laugh, is a different kind of wine tasting event and will prove to be a true pilgrimage for your palate while engaging you in an informal and humorous presentation designed to elevate your enjoyment and knowledge of wine. "The focus in on the pure entertainment aspect of the event along with general wine concepts such as tasting, buying, food pairings and health benefits," says wine aficionado and host Brian Burke, "Most wine tastings are about selling a certain vineyard or product, and this is about training the palate and having a good laugh for a good cause, too." The café-like atmosphere of the Establishment Theatre is perfect for sipping while overloading your senses in true Bacchanal fashion. But wait, folks, there's more... We'll cap off the night with a hilarious show featuring the Improv genius of Comedy Sportz QC.

We can be hedonistic because we're also giving. Money raised from this event will benefit our area marketing and communications student scholarship fund and support our efforts in our new public service awareness campaign regarding our growing homeless plight in the Quad Cities. "This public service campaign is a true creative collaboration," says Erik Meade, President of Mindfire Communications and serving as the Public Service Chair for AAF QC, "There are extremely talented people on the Public Service committee from various communication and marketing organizations in the QC and working together on this campaign is a great way to break down barriers in this highly competitive industry and work together towards a greater goal."

One of the fantastic surprises of this veteran Original songs and fresh sounds combined with old-school traditional spirit. Critically acclaimed master musicians and singers trained by the forefathers of bluegrass and the legends of the Grand Ole Opry have forged into a very special musical experience!

World-class bluegrass entertainers Monroe Crossing, named in honor of Bill Monroe. Monroe Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals. Their airtight harmonies, razor sharp arrangements, and on-stage rapport make them audience favorites across the United States and Canada. They are touring in support of their new DVD, "Monroe Crossing Live," which features audience favorites and original compositions from "Heartache & Stone," their latest CD. "Heartache & Stone" boasts seven band originals and songs from four other Minnesota songwriters, including pop rocker Prince

The Harman Family Bluegrass Band today consists of first and second generation musicians having deep roots dating back to 1975. Their music style ranges from traditional to contemporary bluegrass, country, gospel and other various types of music.

The Bankester Family, of Carbondale, IL, is becoming a crowd favorite throughout the bluegrass festival scene.  Their latest CD, The Bankesters, has been released on Blue Circle Records and features the family's beautiful harmonies as well as growing instrumental abilities.  The family was also fortunate enough to feature Jamie Johnson of The Grascals on this CD, with the song, "My Love Will Follow You."  The Bankesters have only been touring a few short years, but can put on a show like true professionals.

Ashley Lewis has fronted the spirited bluegrass band, Ashton Gap, for nine years. Her musical influences are derived from a bluegrass heritage in Kentucky. Known for her sparkling vocals and dynamic mandolin and fiddle performances, Ashley is also a profound songwriter, and evidence of her bluegrass legacy appears in the words and music of her original songs. By blending a variety of mandolin styles and her own rhythmic technique, Ashley has developed a unique sound that is true to the traditional roots of bluegrass with her own flair added.

St. Katharine's School, St. Katharine's-St. Mark's, and now Rivermont Collegiate - what a history!  Rivermont has been developing intellect and inspiring creativity in Quad City area students since 1884!  Rivermont invites all alumni to join us for food, friends, and fond memories on Saturday, August 13th.  A casual gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. on the Rivermont campus, located at 1821 Sunset Drive in Bettendorf. A tentative menu of "hometown" eats includes Happy Joe's pizza and Whitey's ice cream.  Alumni are encouraged to bring spouses, partners, dates, children, siblings, and/or parents.  This event is open to alumni and former students from ALL graduating years!  Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to catch up with classmates and former teachers!

Our alumni come from St. Katharine's School (affectionately known as St. Kit's), St. Katharine's-St. Mark's School, and now Rivermont.  The school was founded in 1884 and originally organized as St. Katharine's School, an Episcopal boarding school for girls, located at 10th and Tremont Streets in Davenport.  In 1968, St. Katharine's dropped its boarding program, became co-educational, and added St. Mark's to its name.  In 1973, SKSM moved to its present location at 1821 Sunset Drive in Bettendorf, formerly the home of Joseph Bettendorf.  In 1980, the school amicably broke ties with the Episcopal Church and in 2001 the name was changed to Rivermont Collegiate.  Rivermont is the Quad Cities' only private, independent, nonsectarian college prep school, serving preschool through 12th grade.  Students at Rivermont are grounded in the basics, yet encouraged to think analytically and creatively, creating alumni who confidently and enthusiastically meet today's opportunities and challenges.

Alumni who plan to attend should RSVP to Carol Loula at cloula@aol.com.

For additional information on Rivermont Collegiate and/or Saturday's Alumni Event, contact Cindy Murray at (563) 359-1366 ext. 302 or murray@rvmt.org.
