DAVENPORT, IOWA (July 29, 2019) — The Putnam’s celebration of creatures of theCretaceous will return Aug. 9-11 with the three-day family event, Dino Days.

Tickets are on sale for Dino Days, which will allow guests to unearth kid-friendly, dino-themed activities at the museum and science center and watch dinosaur-inspired movies on the museum’s GIANT Screen.

CLINTON, IOWA (July 25, 2019) — The Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center, "Clinton, Iowa's Children's Museum," is ending July with a splash of fun events and activities. On Wednesday, come make a colorful flower art piece. On Friday, enjoy National Clown Day, then come read with Ms. Cotton on Saturday morning at Storytime Saturday. Save the date for the upcoming Starlab Planetarium on Saturday, August 10. Each of these programs is free with regular museum admission or membership.

WEST BRANCH, IOWA (July 18, 2019) — Herbert Hoover National Historic Site welcomes “Rise Above,” a traveling exhibit honoring the famed Tuskegee Airmen. CAF Red Tail Squadron, a non-profit educational outreach-group, presents the exhibit to tell the inspirational story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American military aviators that made their mark during World War II.

WEST BRANCH, IOWA (July 18, 2019) — Since 1971 the National Park Service has been reconstructing a tallgrass prairie on 81 acres of the park that commemorates Herbert Hoover’s life. The prairie had vanished from that land during over a century of farming. How and why is the National Park Service reconstructing this prairie? Which species grow and live there? What’s in store for the future?

WEST BRANCH, IOWA (July 18, 2019) — The National Park Service will host a concert by the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America’s Midwest Winds at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site on Saturday, August 24, at 12:00 noon. Midwest Winds will play on the Village Green at the intersection of Parkside Drive and Main Street in historic downtown West Branch. Bring blankets or lawn chairs, and picnic in the park while you listen. Ample parking is nearby.

WEST BRANCH, IOWA (July 9, 2019) — Photographer Jim Schlett will lead a sunset photography-walk and a presentation at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site this August. Schlett is this year’s Artist-in-Residence for the national park in West Branch, Iowa.

As the world celebrates the anniversary of the momentous moon landing on July 20, 1969, the Putnam Museum and Science Center is taking a giant leap to celebrate the historic event.
