DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 20, 2019) — Due to the April 30 flood that has Bucktown Center for the Arts closed for renovations, MidCoast Fine Arts’ 2019 ArtWorks Expo High School Pastel Competition will be held at the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges Campus (EICC). College administrators generously have offered use of the site for the event that will take place Saturday, May 25, 9:30AM-4PM, 101 W 3rd St, Davenport, Iowa, 52801.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (May 14, 2019) — This summer, the African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI) announces it will join museums nationwide in participating in the tenth summer of Blue Star Museums, a program which provides free admission to our nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families. The 2019 program will begin earlier than in past years, launching on Saturday, May 18, 2019, Armed Forces Day, and ending on Monday, September 2, 2019, Labor Day.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 13, 2019) — The Putnam is continuing its rooftop concert tradition with "A Tribute to Motown" on Saturday, May 18, at noon. The concert is free to the public, and visitors are encouraged to bring chairs to enjoy the open-air concert in the Putnam parking lot.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — "Lange Nacht des Museums/Night at the Museum" is a unique opportunity for the QC community to visit the German American Heritage Center and Museum (GAHC/M) and engage with others interested in cultural exchange. This event is hosted by Fulbright Germany Alumni and will feature presentations on German and American culture and friendship. Admission is free!

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 10, 2019) — The Putnam is calling members of the community to discuss how “race” is perceived during the free event, Envisioning Race, Thursday, May 16, at 7PM.

The event features a screening of the documentary “What’s Race Got to Do with It?” in the Putnam’s Giant Screen Theater. The film explores issues such as underrepresentation, the limitations of multiculturalism, social equity, affirmative action, and how to make a difference.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 7, 2019) — A multimedia installation by Pittsburgh-based artist Vanessa German will be on view at the Figge Art Museum beginning Saturday.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 3, 2019) — Cindy Carlson, President of the Board of Directors of the Figge Art Museum, announced today that Tim Schiffer, Executive Director and CEO, has given notice of his intent to resign effective later this summer. “We are very grateful for Tim’s contributions to the Figge and the community as a whole,” Carlson said. “We will greatly miss the leadership, knowledge, and love for art that he brought to the Figge.”
