WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is requesting background information on Akayed Ullah, the Bangladeshi immigrant who yesterday detonated an improvised explosive device near the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City injuring five.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds appointed Patrick McElyea on Friday as district court judge in the Seventh Judicial District. McElyea will fill the judicial seat formerly held by Judge Paul L. Macek.

McElyea, of Davenport, received his law degree from Drake University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Central College. He currently serves as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Iowa.

CHICAGO (Nov. 22, 2017) — Gov. Bruce Rauner today granted five and denied 97 clemency petitions. 

This is the twenty-first set of petitions the governor has reviewed since taking office. Each person granted clemency has recently undergone a criminal background check through the Illinois State Police’s Law Enforcement Agencies Data System.
