Governor Takes Clemency Action - August 31, 2017

CHICAGO (Sep. 1, 2017) –Governor Bruce Rauner today granted seven and denied 87 clemency petitions. 

This is the nineteenth set of petitions the governor has reviewed since taking office. Each person granted clemency has recently undergone a criminal background check through the Illinois State Police’s Law Enforcement Agencies Data System.

Gov. Reynolds announces appointments to Iowa’s district judicial nominating commissions

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds announced appointments to Iowa’s district judicial nominating commissions Friday.

The following appointments are unpaid and are not subject to Senate confirmation:

Kathleen Klimesh, Spillville

Matt Giese, Dubuque

District 1B Judicial Nomination Commission

Conrad Clement, Cresco

Davenport Man Sentenced to 70 Months in Prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm

DAVENPORT, IA – On August 30, 2017, Eugene Williams, Jr., 22, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger to 70 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel. Williams will serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. The firearm involved in the offense was forfeited.

Davenport Man Sentenced to 120 Months in Prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm

DAVENPORT, IA – On August 30, 2017, Paris Hollingshed, 37, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to 120 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel. Hollingshed will serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. Hollingshed was found guilty of this charge after a three-day jury trial on March 3, 2017.

Davenport Man Sentenced to 84 Months in Prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm

DAVENPORT, IA - On August 30, 2017, Romance Desuave Armstrong, 29, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to 84 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel. Armstrong will serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

Iowa Supreme Court to Hear Oral Arguments at Des Moines Hoover High School

Des Moines, August 29, 2017— On Tuesday, September 19, the Iowa Supreme Court will hear oral arguments at the Des Moines Hoover High School auditorium, 4800 Aurora Avenue. The oral arguments are open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m.

The court will hear attorneys argue the case of State of Iowa v. Bion Blake Ingram, from Jasper County.

Davenport Man Sentenced to 36 Months in Prison for Felon in Possession of a Firearm

DAVENPORT, IA - On August 29, 2017, Leroy Lynell Grandberry, 30, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced by Chief United States District Court Judge John A. Jarvey to 36 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel. Grandberry was ordered to serve three years of supervised release following his imprisonment and to pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

Bettendorf Doctor Pleads Guilty to Health Care Fraud

DAVENPORT, IA – On August 22, 2017, Dr. Paul Matthew Bolger, 45, of Bettendorf, Iowa, pleaded guilty to 18 counts of false statements relating to health care matters and five counts of introduction of misbranded drugs. He also pleaded guilty to one count of false statements relating to health care matters for conduct occurring in California and transferred from the Central District of California to the Southern District of Iowa, announced United States Attorney Kevin E. VanderSchel.
