DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 1, 2019) — The Library was set to provide a program partnered with the MUGZ Club for a complete homebrewing demonstration, from grain to glass, on Saturday, May 4, 1PM, at Eastern (6000 Eastern Ave) for this unique class that will emphasize equipment and technique for the absolute beginner. If you can boil water, you can brew!

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 1, 2019) — Do you have fines? The entire month of May, the Davenport Public Library is participating in Read Away Your Fines! Simply stop by any of our three locations at the Service Desk and tell them you are interested in reading away your fines. The staff will give you a bookmark to take home. Each book on the bookmark represents one hour of reading and $4 of fines. The books on the back are separated into 15 minute sections.

Join us Saturday, May 18, at 2PM, at Fairmount (3000 N Fairmount) for make-our-own Pikachu ears and other crafts, a Pokémon Go IRL Scavenger Hunt, and then compete in the ultimate Pokémon Trivia Contest for glory and prizes!

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 26, 2019) — Join us Saturday mornings in May at Eastern (6000 Eastern Ave) for a four-part series exploring the development of Western culture as reflected in the sculpture of the age.

Saturday, May 4, 10AM — We will discuss the definition of the Renaissance and the beginning of Renaissance sculpture.

Saturday, May 11, 10AM — Explore medieval through 15th-century sculpture, including the work of Donatello.

Get ready for planting season! Join us Thursday, May 16, at Fairmount, 4-7PM, and share flowers, vegetables, herbs, seedling-starters, and seeds with Scott County Master Gardeners Extension. Bring your seeds and started-seedling plants to swap and share. We will also be showcasing some of our US Plant Patent photos. Be sure to label your seeds and seedlings.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 22, 2019) — More young Americans are becoming caregivers to elderly or disabled family members, and it can be difficult to balance your career with the needs of elderly parents or grandparents. Join us Monday, May 13, 6PM, at Eastern (6000 Eastern Ave) to learn about being a caregiver for an older adult. Presented by Milestones Area Agency on Aging.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 18, 2019) — New to the area or just looking to make new mom friends? Come to the Eastern Avenue Library Saturday, May 11, 2–4PM, and meet some other moms. Bring your mom (or don't!) and meet new mom friends. We'll have crafts and activities, as well as questions to help get the conversations started.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 18, 2019) — Davenport Public Library will host three free seminars by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) for the friends and families of those who live with mental-health conditions. The seminars will be led by Vicki Walters, a trained professional with first-hand experience supporting a loved-one with a mental-health condition.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 17, 2019) — Author and actress Dana Davis is returning to Davenport to celebrate the release of her second YA novel, “The Voice in My Head”. Join us for a discussion with Dana, a North High School alumna, on Thursday, May 30, 6PM, at Fairmount (3000 N Fairmount St) led by the awesome staff of LOVE Girls, a local girls empowerment-organization and magazine. A book-signing will follow the discussion.
