2026 Oscar Nominated Short Films: Live Action (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

Aurora: What Happened to the Earth? (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Wednesday, March 4, 7:45 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Avatar: Fire & Ash (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas) - The sci-fi wonders are disappointingly familiar, and not just because we only had to wait three years for a new Pandora adventure, as opposed to the 13 that passed between 2009's original Avatar and 2022's The Way of WaterIMDb listing.

The Bad Guys 2 (PG; Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - More often than not, this animated sequel is quite funny. Better yet, it's smart funny. IMDb listing.

A Better Tomorrow (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Sunday, March 1, 4:30 & 7 p.m., and Monday, March 2, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Crime 101 (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Despite its silly title, this heist thriller what I was hoping Michael Mann's 1995 Heat would be: more varied, less oppressive, open to moments of lightness and spontaneity, and not almost three hours long. IMDb listing.

The Cruz Brothers & Miss Malloy (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Monday, March 2, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Dracula (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Luc Besson's adaptation is two-plus hours of gorgeously designed, nearly operatic excess that's certainly one of the nervier takes on Bram Stoker's material yet produced. IMDb listing.

Dreams (R; FilmScene on the Ped Mall) - IMDb listing.

Elephants: Giants of the Desert (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Enhypen [Walk the Line Summer Edition] in Cinemas (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Thursday, March 5, 6:15 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

EPIC: Elvis Presley in Concert (PG-13; VIP Cinemas) - IMDb listing.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (R; The Last Picture House: Wednesday, March 4, 6 p.m.) - This deserbing Oscar winner just might be the only sci-fi/martial-arts/time-travel comedy you'll ever see that also boasts an emotional power to make you cry – a lotIMDb listing.

GOAT  (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Advertising the film as “from the artists that made KPop Demon Hunters and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is really just a grabby way of saying GOAT kind of looks like them, but the animation does have some visual kick, and the script provides a number of decent verbal gags. IMDb listing.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - This fantastically entertaining film is like a big-screen video game, but not in the stultifying Iron Lung way, and with a trio of topnotch Black Mirror episodes tucked inside as a bonus. IMDb listing.

Hoppers: Early-Access Screening (PG; Saturday, February 28, 1 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

The Housemaid (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - For close to its entire first hour, Paul Feig's psychological thriller is all kinds of fun, primarily because, over the course of those 60ish minutes, Amanda Seyfried seems to embody 60ish types of crazy. IMDb listing.

How to Make a Killing (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, FilmScene at the Chauncey) - This dark comedy thriller is watchable and fairly satisfying, but only when its femme fatale Margaret Qualley is in view does the film deliver the devilishly nasty kick you want from it. IMDb listing.

The Hunger Games (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Wednesday, March 4, 7:15 p.m.) - The first film of the Suzanne Collins series is consistently engaging, frequently exciting, and occasionally even exhilarating, an inspiring example of what can happen when dedicated filmmakers don't concentrate on making a satisfying adaptation so much as a satisfying movie. IMDb listing.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Thursday, March 5, 7:15 p.m.) - A solid, mostly enjoyable follow-up, and with Francis Lawrence taking over the directorial reins from Gary Ross, sometimes even better than that; IMDb listing.

I Can Only Imagine 2 (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - The best reason to see this followup, at least if you're not instinctively inclined to seek out an inspirational, faith-based bio-musical, is Milo Ventimiglia, who's utterly fantastic.  IMDb listing.

Iron Lung (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Hands down, the most staggeringly inept video-game adaptation I've ever seen, as no one beyond those familiar with creator David Szymanski's 2022 game could possibly know what's happening on even the most simplistic narrative levels. IMDb listing.

Kiss the Ground (PG; Aledo Opera House: Wednesday, March 4, 6 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Melania (PG; VIP Cinemas) - IMDb listing.

Midwinter Break (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie (R; The Last Picture House, FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

North by Northwest (not rated; Aledo Opera House: Thursday, March 5, 6 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Old Joy (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Sunday, March 1, 4 p.m., and Thursday, March 5, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

One Battle After Another (R; Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - You leave Paul Thomas Anderson's obscenely enjoyable comic thriller on such a high of filmmaking bravado, narrative ingenuity, and performance pleasure that you don't want to – you practically can't – come down from it. IMDb listing.

Pillion (not rated; The Last Picture House, FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

Pride & Prejudice (PG; Aledo Opera House: Friday, February 27, through Sunday, March 1, 6 p.m.) - Director Joe Wright manages to keep the Austen's light comedy intact while also lending the material more emotional resonance than you might be prepared for. IMDb listing.

Psycho Killer (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Red Sonja (PG-13; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Wednesday, March 4, 10 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Scream 7 (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, The Last Picture House, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

The Secret Agent (R; Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Thursday, March 5, 7 p.m.) - By this the final scenes of this Brazilian drama/thriller, I was staring at the screen with open-mouthed excitement, and not quite ready for the experience to be over. IMDb listing.

Send Help (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas. Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Sam Raimi's survival thriller is the ultimate “revenge on a horrible boss” comedy, and far nastier and funnier than Horrible Bosses itself. IMDb listing.

Singin' in the Rain (G; Aledo Opera House: Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1, 3 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Solo Mio (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas) - IMDb listing.

Spider-Man 2 (PG-13; VIP Cinemas) - Despite its flaws, Sam Raimi's superhero adventure is almost ridiculously enjoyable, a rare sequel that manages to leave you craving even more. IMDb listing.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (PG; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Wednesday, March 4, 10 a.m. & 1 p.m.) - A delirious explosion of color, incident, emotion, and absolutely first-rate jokes. IMDb listing.

Starbright (PG-13; VIP Cinemas) - IMDb listing.

Stories of Community Winter 2026 (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Saturday, February 28, 12:30 p.m.) - ICFilmScene.org.

The Strangers: Chapter 3 (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - What can I say? At least it's over, and at least it's ending with the least offensive of its three parts. IMDb listing.

Superpower Dogs (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - Daniel Ferguson provides enough globe-trotting action for a James Bond flick, treating us to first-rate training footage and re-created missions in locales ranging from the Canadian Rockies to the Italian coast to a debris-strewn site near New York's Ground Zero. IMDb listing.

T. Rex (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Toxic (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Friday, February 27, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Undercard (not rated; VIP Cinemas) - IMDb listing.

Vishnu Vinyasam (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

Wild Rescue (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

"Wuthering Heights" (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, FilmScene on the Ped Mall, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Emerald Fennell's aggressive, hyper-symbolic, 140-minute Emily Brontë adaptation produces an oppressive lightheadedness – the kind you'd feel after five rides on the same roller coaster, or a meal composed solely of greasy fast food and candy. IMDb listing.

Y tu mama tambien (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Saturday, February 28, 10 p.m.) - Alfonso Cuaron's astounding coming-of-age road movie is the most haunting and beautiful meditation on life and young love seen in years. IMDb listing.

Zootopia 2 (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, VIP Cinemas, Marcus Sycamore Cinema)) - Disney's sequel is almost as great as 2016's original Zootopia, which makes it almost one of the sharpest, wittiest, funniest comedies of its decade. IMDb listing.
