DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 12, 2023) — Quad Cities Pride in Memory started as a project to capture oral histories from local LGBTQ+ seniors, telling their own stories in their own words. The sweep of this history from around 1960 to the present was so compelling that they decided to create panels which display this history and help explain major events during those years.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (May 12, 2023) — In an effort to make the world a more accepting place for individuals of all abilities, on June 3, 2023, GiGi’s Playhouse Quad Cities, the local Down syndrome achievement center, is working alongside our network of more than sixty playhouses, throughout the United States and Mexico, to host a GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenge event. They will hold their annual SUPERHERO 5K run, 1 Mile walk, and Kids Dash for Down syndrome.

IOWA CITY, IOWA (05/11/2023) — Twenty-third students enrolled in the Henry B Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa who received annual awards presented by the Department of Accounting.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 11, 2023) — The US Food and Drug Administration has finalized its recommendations on changes to donor eligibility that will have US blood providers move to an individual risk-assessment to determine eligibility for blood donation. Blood establishments in the US may now implement these recommendations by revising donor history questionnaires, data systems, staff training, and procedures.

CLIVE, IOWA (May 11, 2023) — On May 11, the US Supreme Court rejected a challenge to a California law that mandates more space for breeding pigs, also called Proposition 12.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 11, 2023) — A $1 million gift from 1977 Palmer College of Chiropractic graduate Paul Hetrick DC, will empower the College to grow its Sports and Rehabilitation Residency program. The program is the longest-standing program of its kind in the nation, offering Doctors of Chiropractic the opportunity to build their clinical skills and earn specialized credentials while teaching parts of the Palmer curriculum.
