Statement of Under Secretary Greg Ibach on Section 199A Tax Code Fix

(Washington, D.C., January 12, 2018) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Greg Ibach today issued the following statement regarding efforts to address concerns with recent changes to Section 199A of the federal tax code. Some agriculture stakeholders have raised questions about potential market effects on cooperatives and independent grain-related businesses.

Minecraft Contest at the Davenport Library

Come test your skills against other kids on the Library’s Minecraft Server! Join us at Fairmount (3000 Fairmount) on Saturday, January 20 at 10:00am. Contestants will be given a theme and judged on their execution and creativity. Winners will take home a small prize.

Registration is required so sign up early! Beginners are invited to compete, but will not receive instruction outside of a basic commands handout.

2018 Best Online Programs Rank Iowa Wesleyan University in Top 340

The University ranked as one of the top 340 online bachelor’s programs across the nation. According to the report, Iowa Wesleyan is one of the top schools in Iowa for 100% online bachelor’s degree programs.

The Mississippi Valley Blues Society is working with the Figge Art Museum and area high school students to create the 2018 Mississippi Valley Blues Festival logo and poster design.

The blues society says the aim of the contest is to engage teens in the field of art and design by tapping into their creativity and love of music. The Mississippi Valley Blues Society is reaching out to high school students in six counties, Rock Island, Henry, Mercer, Scott, Clinton and Muscatine, and is hoping to receive many submissions.
