One of the most familiar voices in area-sports radio can be heard again, in a different context, when the Davenport Public Library hosts the virtual presentation Inside Iowa Sports, an online June 26 event boasting decades worth of anecdotes delivered by Gary “Dolph” Dolphin, the longtime play-by-play broadcaster for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes football and men's-basketball teams.

Delivered as part of the Davenport Public Library's virtual 3rd Thursday at Hoover's Presidential Library & Museum programming, the June 17 Zoom webinar Clearing the Static: Herbert Hoover & Early Radio Regulation will find professor Stephen Coon discussing the history of the medium and how regulatory decisions made by Herbert Hoover and others still affect today’s industry, present-day social-media platforms included.

Germanic history travels to “The Big Easy” in a virtual program on June 13 as Davenport's German American Heritage Center presents Germans in New Orleans: The 19th Century, a cultural exploration hosted by Caroline Huey, Associate Professor of Germanic Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

With the event held in conjunction with June being LGBTQ+ month, 400 years of progress for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer individuals will be explored in the Davenport Public Library's June 10 program LGBTQ+ Resistance Throughout U.S. History, an informational and insightful presentation led by Dr. Caroline Radesky, a visiting assistant professor from the University of Iowa.
