DES MOINES, IOWA (June 19, 2020) Iowa Workforce Development has partnered with Coursera to offer free online learning opportunities to Iowans during the pandemic. Coursera is an online learning-platform with over 4,300 courses available from a variety of academic institutions and organizations worldwide.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 19, 2020) Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 10.0 percent in May. The state’s jobless rate was 2.7 percent one year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate dropped to 13.3 percent in May.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 18, 2020) The number of initial claims in Iowa, filed between Sunday, June 7, and Saturday, June 13, was 9,516. There were 8,717 initial claims by individuals who work and live in Iowa, and 799 claims by individuals who work in Iowa and live in another state. The number of continuing weekly unemployment claims for June 7-13 was 154,752, down 3,516 from the previous week.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (June 10, 2020) — The Quad Cities Chamber has partnered with Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) to offer ten students limited, no-cost access into their Manufacturing Awareness Program “25 in 25.”

The 90-day free online-training program provides full access to self-paced learning modules for exploring and earning certifications toward a career in manufacturing. It includes 25 different courses, each lasting no more than one hour.
