Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), was created by The CARES Act and provides an additional 13 weeks of federally funded benefits to individuals who have exhausted their 26 weeks of regular state unemployment benefits.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 28, 2020) — The number of initial claims in Iowa, filed between Sunday, May 17, and Saturday, May 23, was 14,586. There were 13,365 initial claims by individuals who work and live in Iowa, and 1,221 claims by individuals who work in Iowa and live in another state.

The number of continuing weekly unemployment claims was 180,679.
