CHICAGO (Dec. 1, 2017) — Gov. Bruce Rauner and the Illinois Bicentennial Commission today announced the signature events and projects that are planned to celebrate the state’s 200th year.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, Dec. 7, in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.

Students across Illinois showcase “Something to Learn About Illinois History”

CHICAGO (Nov. 30, 2017) — The start of the Illinois Bicentennial is only four days away and each day leading up to the kick off, the office of the Governor will share a winning entry in the Something to Learn About Illinois History video contest.

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Kim Reynolds completed her 99 county tour for 2017 on Thursday, Nov. 30, at Carver’s Ridge in Corning in Adams County.

Gov. Reynolds restarted her 99 county tour after being sworn in as governor on May 24. She held 303 public events in 189 days.

As outlined in her swearing-in address, Gov. Reynolds stressed her four priorities for Building a Better Iowa in stops across the state, some highlights of which include:

Starting Monday, November 27, Jersey Ridge Road will be closed to all traffic between Lombard and Central Park Avenue for private sewer repairs.  The contractor estimates work will be complete and the road re-opened on, or by, Friday, December 1.

CitiBus Route 3, Yellow Line, will be detoured Monday, November 27 through Friday, December 1 as a result of the closure.  The detour for Route 3 is as follows:

On Thursday afternoon, November 2nd, six organizations received 2017 FACE Community Impact grants at a presentation held at the Masonic Lodge.  This year seventeen applications for grants were received with a total of almost $11,600 being requested for various local projects and services.  FACE (Fulton’s community foundation and a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend) was able to respond to $4,000 of those requests.  The recipients were as follows:

The City of Davenport, Iowa is currently accepting on-line applications until 11:59 P.M. on Friday, December 1, 2017 for Police Officer.

Garbage: All solid waste collection will be one day late for all residents with Thursday and Friday collection dates due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Thursday’s collection will be on Friday, November 24th and Friday’s collection will be on Saturday, November 25th.

Residents may also place up to three extra bags of garbage outside of their cart without an extra garbage sticker on their collection day between Friday, November 24th and Wednesday, November 29th.

On November 30, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Davenport Police Facility, the City of Davenport will hold a workshop to explain the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) YR44 (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019) subrecipient application process and requirements. Any agency or organization wishing to apply MUST attend this workshop. As a CDBG entitlement community, Davenport receives an annual allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
