WASHINGTON DC (April 22, 2020) — The US Food and Drug Administration has authorized the first diagnostic test with a home collection option for COVID-19. Specifically, the FDA re-issued the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) COVID-19 RT-PCR Test to permit testing of samples self-collected by patients at home using LabCorp’s Pixel by LabCorp COVID-19 Test home collection kit.

WASHINGTON DC (April 17, 2020) — The US Food and Drug Administration announced a further expansion of COVID-19 testing options through the recognition that spun synthetic swabs — with a design similar to Q-tips — could be used to test patients by collecting a sample from the front of the nose.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 7, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of 102 additional positive cases for a total of 1,048 positive cases. There have been an additional 1,017 negative tests for a total of 11,670 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.
