WASHINGTON DC (March 17, 2020) — Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced a collaboration with the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty, McLane Global, PepsiCo, and others to deliver nearly 1,000,000 meals to students in a limited number of rural schools closed due to COVID-19:

LENEXA, KANSAS (March 16, 2020) — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is releasing an expanded list of EPA-registered disinfectant products that have qualified for use against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The list contains nearly 200 additional products — including 40 new products that went through the agency’s expedited review process. The agency also made key enhancements to the web-based list to improve its usefulness.

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (March 16, 2020) — The Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) represents most of the state's more than 790 long-term care-providers, including nursing homes, assisted living communities, and home health-care agencies, and has been working closely with its members and state health officials to monitor novel coronavirus (COVID-19) developments in Iowa.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 14, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of one additional positive case of an Iowan with COVID-19, for a total of 18 positive cases. The individual is an older adult age 61-80, and a resident of Dallas County.

Additionally, IDPH has determined, based on the new COVID-19 case and the announcement this evening of community spread in Omaha, Nebraska, there is now community spread in our state.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 10, 2020) — Testing at Iowa’s State Hygienic Laboratory has indicated five additional presumptive positive cases of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iowa residents, a total of 13 presumptive positive cases. 14 additional tests were negative. All five new cases are in self isolation and recovering at home.

LENEXA, KANSAS (March 9, 2020) — The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) notified registrants of disinfectants that due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19, the agency is expediting the review of submissions from companies requesting to add Emerging Viral Pathogens claims to their already-registered surface disinfectant labels.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (March, 2020) — Gilda’s Club Quad Cities will host Frankly Speaking about Cancer: Treatments and Side Effects, a free workshop for people living with cancer and their loved ones. Designed to help people understand and manage the physical and psychological side effects of treatment, the two-hour workshop will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, 5:30-7:30PM, at Gilda’s Club Quad Cities — 1234 E River Drive. Dinner and doors open at 5:30PM; presentation starts at 6PM.
