Iowa Surpasses 356,000 Voters in June Primary, Second Highest Turnout Since 1994

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 8, 2022) — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces more than 356,000 Iowans participated in the June 7 primary election, according to unofficial numbers released by Sec Pate’s office. More than 73,000 Iowans voted absentee, which is the second-highest total for a primary election in state history.

The unofficial turnout by political party was 195,355 Republicans and 156,589 Democrats.

Absentee Voting Period Begins in Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 18, 2022) — The absentee voting period for the June 7 primary election is now underway. Iowans can vote in-person at their county auditor’s office from May 18–June 6. This is also the first day county auditors can mail absentee ballots to voters that requested one.
