DES MOINES, IOWA (November 19, 2019) — On Monday, the Iowa Restaurant Association, in collaboration with The Soyfoods Council and the Iowa Beef Industry Council, completed their statewide culinary competition at a Celebratory Gala at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The two-part competition challenged top chefs from across Iowa to create an entrée featuring a Beef Sirloin Ball Tip Steak and a soy-based side dish or sauce.

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (November 13, 2019) — Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation are continuing to reduce childhood hunger in Iowa with the Power Snack(tm) program. This year, food insecure children across Iowa will receive Pork Sticks in addition to existing Power Snack coupons for deli ham and whole wheat bread.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 28, 2019) — On November 18, in conjunction with the Iowa Hospitality Convention and Expo, the Iowa Restaurant Association will host its Annual Tasting Gala and Celebrating Excellence Awards Ceremony at the Iowa Events Center. DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 21, 2019) — Raising Cane’s will open their first restaurant in Davenport, IA. Starting at 10AM, they’ll be serving up their one of a kind menu of fresh, never-ever frozen chicken-fingers, homemade Cane’s Sauce, grilled Texas Toast, crinkle-cut French fries, and creamy Coleslaw.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (October 2, 2019) — Students in culinary education programs at three Iowa high schools will go head-to-head in a “Top Chef” style cooking competition. Davenport Community Schools, Cedar Rapids Community School District, and Mt Pleasant High School will participate for prizes and bragging rights. The event will be held at The Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center on October 17, 6-8PM. The event is open to the public and includes dinner for $20.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (September 16, 2019) — A taco is a traditional Mexican dish consisting of a flour or corn tortilla folded around a filling, which is generally made of spiced meats and garnishes like salsa and cilantro.

The public is invited to nominate outstanding people in Iowa’s restaurant and hospitality industry for any of these awards honors.

DES MOINES, IOWA (May 21, 2019) — A "Pop Up" Culinary event is coming to Iowa City. Pop Ups are a recent culinary phenomenon: Delivering gourmet tastes in unexpected places. This Pop Up Culinary Affair will take place at the VUE Rooftop at the Hilton Garden inn downtown Iowa City on Wednesday, June 5th from 5-7:30PM. Guests will sample their way through seven "Pop Up" courses presented by seven top chefs while enjoying a beautiful view of the city and watching the sunset.
