For the third year in a row the Davenport Chordbusters will hold a concert to celebrate the season and benefit Churches United of the Quad City Area.  Come out December 11th to Heritage Church in Rock Island to "Celebrate the Holidays."  Everyone is welcome and admission is by free will donation.

"We are excited that once again Chordbusters are offering this opportunity, not only for the community to see a great holiday show, but also for Churches United to benefit," said Anne Wachal, executive director for Churches United.  "The holiday season is a time of giving and receiving and we think this is a great example of that."

The show starts at 7:00pm on Friday, December 11, 2015.  It will be held at Heritage Church, located at 4801 44th Street, Rock Island, and will feature special guests Bend of the River Chorus, Hersong, RiverBend Bronze, Crimson River, The Schraders, Jonathan Turner, QC Music Guild Youth Chorus and Laila Haley.

Churches United is a non-profit organization in the Quad Cities that serves the community through various ministries: including 26 food pantries, 3 hot meal sites, Winnie's Place, a shelter for women and children who are homeless or victims of domestic violence, and Winnie's Wishes, the resale shop which proceeds directly benefit Winnie's Place.  All money raised from the concert goes directly to help Churches United's Hunger Ministries.

(ROCK ISLAND, IL - December 4, 2015) - The District, MidCoast Fine Arts, The ARTery & Quad City Arts present Gallery Hop! on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 6 to 10 p.m. Gallery Hop! is a fun, festive and free art open house unique to downtown Rock Island. Local and regional artists are showcased, and some provide demonstrations in venues throughout downtown Rock Island.

The "Hop Stops" stretch all the way from 16th Street to 25th Street and from 1st Avenue to 5th Avenue! Locations will include coffee shops, restaurants, retail shops, and entertainment venues. This unique group of Hop Stops allows guests to grab a quick bite to eat, have a drink, or shop for other items, all while being at Gallery Hop! Jewelry, photography, woodwork, glass, paintings, drawings, sculpture, live music, and more will be featured. Gallery Hop! is a great opportunity to check those art lovers off of your holiday shopping list. Brand new Hop Stops include : Gentry Boutique (218 18th Street), Colman Florist (1623 2nd Avenue), and Soi 2 (1825 2nd Avenue). Make sure to hop your way to the Hop Stops that are off the beaten path as to not miss anything! The Quad City Botanical Center located at 2525 4th Avenue will host three different Gallery Hop! artists, have complementary coffee and cocoa, and "Quilt Tales" will be on exhibit as well. "Quilt Tales" includes over 30 Mississippi Valley Quilters Guild members' quilts.

There will be maps and game cards at each "Hop Stop." The map will include a list of all of the stops and their exhibiting artist(s), and the game cards will include Gallery Hop! BINGO. To play Gallery Hop! BINGO just visit at least five locations, have the artist sign off, and make a straight line on your card. Completed cards can be turned in at MidCoast Fine Arts/The ARTery or Quad City Arts. The winner gets a prize basket full of fun gifts from The District including: a $50 gift certificate to Gentry Boutique, a drum from Teranga house of Africa, a Icon's Martini tasting party certificate, a $25 gift certificate to Colman Florist, a $10 gift certificate to The Original Huckleberry's Great Pizza and Calzones, and more! Davenport, IA - 'Tis the season for holiday traditions including the Quad Cities Police Seniors Light Tour.  Quad City area police departments have joined forces for the 2015 Senior Holiday Light Tour traveling throughout the Quad City area on Monday, December 14th.

The Davenport Police Department has teamed up with CASI-The Center for Active Seniors to chauffer the areas older adults to view the most elaborate holiday light displays in and around the Quad City area.

The tour begins at CASI - The Center for Active Seniors at 1035 West Kimberly Road, Davenport with board beginning at 6:15 pm. The holiday light tour takes place on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 7:00pm to 8:15 pm. Reservations are available by calling CASI at 563-386-7477. Guests are encouraged to sign-up by Thursday, December 10th 2015.

Rock Island, IL: Families can make some holiday memories and enjoy quality time this December with free events at Rock Island Libraries.

Toddler Tales, the Holiday Edition: The library's weekly story times for ages birth to five take a holiday turn in December, with stories about making the good kid list, tales of reindeer and elf helpers, and books about being cheerful and jolly. Each free event includes stories, songs, movement, and activities to develop early learning skills while having fun. 10:30 to 11:15 am, on Tuesdays, Dec. 1, 8 and 15 at the 30/31 Branch; Wednesdays, Dec. 2, 9, and 16 at the Southwest Branch, and Fridays, Dec. 4, 11, and 18 at the Main Library Children's Room.

Southwest Branch Family Crafts: Families can make a craft together each month at the Southwest Branch, with craft times on the second Tuesday and immediately following Saturday of each month. Teen Gaming Night - Thursday, Dec. 10, from 5:45 pm to 7:30 pm, Main Library, 401 19th Street. Teens can play video games on the library's over-sized projection screen. Xbox 360, Wii and board games will be available, along with snacks.

Doctor Who Party - Thursday, Dec. 17, 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Main Library, 401 19th Street. The library's annual Doctor Who party features snacks fit for a Time Lord, Doctor Who trivia and prizes, crafts and a showing of a (non-BBC) Doctor Who movie.
