CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (March 11, 2024) — The African American Museum of Iowa will convene a screening and discussion of the 2022 documentary Aftershock as part of their Women’s History Month programming. This free event is the premier public showing of Aftershock in Iowa and is at 6:30PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the Iowa City Public Library (Meeting Room ABC).

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 28, 2024) March is Iowa History Month and the State Historical Society of Iowa is encouraging Iowans of all ages to learn more about Iowa’s past through programs, tours and other activities.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (February 23, 2024) — Man’s best friend, barnyard creatures, playful kittens, circus animals, and bucking broncos are among the animals portrayed in the Animals in Art exhibition. The exhibition combines paintings, prints, drawings, and sculptures from the Muscatine Art Center’s permanent collection with selections of art pottery on loan from Mark and Marie Latta.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (February 12, 2024) — To kick off Women’s History Month, The African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI) has partnered with Kirkwood Community College to present seek first entertainment’s production of Black Women Walking. With two performances only, this theatrical production will be held at Kirkwood’s Ballantyne Auditorium on Saturday, March 2, 7:30PM, and Sunday, March 3, 3PM, both performances will feature a “talk back” moderated cast discussion.

This exclusive evening, featuring Ava DuVernay's groundbreaking new film, Origin, will commence on February 10 with a reception at 5PM, followed by a VIP screening at 6PM.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (November 17, 2023) — The John Deere Planetarium at Augustana College will present its annual holiday program, "Season of Light," on December 9-15. The planetarium show will be offered weekdays, 7PM, and 2PM Saturday and Sunday.

The Heartfelt Lamp; Handmade Ornament Competition has returned for the first time since 2019.
