MUSCATINE, IOWA (May 31, 2023) — The Muscatine Art Center is excited to announce the opening of three exhibitions this June. The 47th annual Birds in Art opens on both floors of the Stanley Gallery on June 1 and will be on view through September 10. Artist Philip Laber’s printed works, House of Cards, opens on the second floor of the Musser McColm mansion on June 3 and will remain on view until August 6.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 12, 2023) — The Putnam Museum and Science Center is excited to welcome Dr Marcus Eriksen and the traveling exhibit JUNKraft. This exhibit examines the issue of global plastic pollution within our oceans. More than 171 trillion pieces of plastic can be found floating on the surface of the ocean. Over 1,200 species worldwide are affected by plastic pollution through ingestion and entanglement.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (May 10, 2023) — The African American Museum of Iowa in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art announce a call for entries for their upcoming exhibit, “Power and Impact: A Survey of 21st Century Black Visual Arts in Iowa.” “Power and Impact” is a partnership between the African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI) and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (CRMA) and will be on display October 28, 2023–March 31, 2024.

BETTENDORF, IOWA (May 2, 2023) — Local QCA writer David Hankins is a winner in the L Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest and was honored along with eleven other winning writers and twelve winning artists at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, California, April 28.  His story, "Death and the Taxman," is illustrated by Sarah Morrison of Malden, Massachusetts who is an Illustrators of the Future winner herself.
