DES MOINES, IOWA (March 3, 2023)  More than 180 Iowans came together Wednesday, March 2, to celebrate the remarkable contributions of Iowans in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Dubuque, Hampton, Iowa City, Marshalltown, and Mason City who have left their mark on Iowa through the arts.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (January 31, 2023) — The Putnam Museum and Science Center is thrilled to host the Smithsonian traveling exhibition Narwhals: Revealing an Arctic Legend. From their depiction in the 1500s as angry sea monsters to their status as icons of pop culture today, the narwhal, with its unique spiral tusk, has inspired legend in Inuit and European society and fascinated people across cultures for centuries.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (January 23, 2023) — From January 4-February 28, 2023, Quad City Arts’ Art at the Airport at Quad Cities International Airport (2200 69th Ave, Moline, Illinois) presents mixed media paintings by Corrine Smith of Rock Island, acrylic paintings by James Eli Bowden of Peotone, Illinois, and steel sculpture by Matt Moyer of Columbia, Missouri.

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (December 5, 2022) — The Quad Cities Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance) Committee announces a call for entries for the "Ida Kramer Children and the Holocaust Essay Contest" and the "Meyer and Frances Shnurman Holocaust Visual Arts Contest" which are open to all Quad City Area students in grades six through twelve. The deadline for entries is March 1, 2023.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS (December 1, 2022) — “Home” means something a little different to each person. Illinois students get to explore their visions of home in the annual statewide art contest sponsored by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Illinois State Board of Education.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (November 22, 2022) — The Muscatine Art Center has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. The Muscatine Art Center was initially accredited in 1993.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (November 16, 2022) — The Putnam Museum and Science Center’s is thrilled to bring back KEVA planks, this time with a fun, winter-time twist! The exhibit, which initially ran throughout the summer, introduces visitors of all ages to problem-solving and abstract-thinking, using mathematics, physics, and design with fun, simple building materials. Build! Create!

MUSCATINE, IOWA (October 26, 2022) — Mo Willems has entertained children and adults for more than a decade with his award-winning Elephant and Piggie early reader series. Willems is a master of rendering emotional expression. A mere raise of Piggie’s eyebrow or Elephant Gerald’s toothy smile provide visual clues to the characters’ feelings.
