ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (November 2, 2023) — The Moline Public Art Commission (MPAC) recently commissioned the largest mural project in the City of Moline, and quite possibly the Quad Cities. This mural project has garnered a lot of coverage from local media, and has started a great conversation around public art, which we LOVE!

MUSCATINE, IOWA (October 26, 2023) — Visitors who remember the Japanese-style garden at the Muscatine Art Center can now encounter an entirely re-made space that has the look and feel of the garden as it was in 1930 when Laura Musser McColm had it installed. Since 2020, the rehabilitation of the Japanese Garden has been an active project for the Muscatine Art Center staff and its team of consultants and contractors.

LeCLAIRE, IOWA (October 17, 2023) — The LeClaire Community Library invites the community to a special presentation. On Tuesday, November 7, 6PM, the Figge Museum will join the regular Hands-on Art History program to present “Native American and Western Art.”

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (October 13, 2023) — The African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI), in partnership with the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (CRMC), is pleased to announce the opening of their exhibit, “Power and Impact: A Survey of 21st Century Black Visual Arts in Iowa.” “Power and Impact” will be on display at the CRMA October 28, 2023–March 31, 2024.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 12, 2023) — The Progressive Action for the Common Good (PACG) video, I Am the Future: Standing on the Shoulders of the Past, will be shown at the Putnam Museum and Science Center in Davenport on Sunday, October 22, 2PM. The personal stories of local Quad City residents who fought for civil rights in the early 1960s were recorded and woven together into a powerful portrayal of their struggles and triumphs.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (October 3, 2023) — The Putnam Museum is excited to announce that for the first time ever we will be hosting a Volunteer Open House on October 12, 6-8PM. The open house will be an opportunity for individuals interested in volunteering, becoming a docent, or completing an internship with us at the museum. Attendees will have the opportunity to get information about what would be expected of them as well as what kinds of opportunities we have.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (October 6, 2023) — On Thursday, October 19, the Muscatine Art Center will welcome writers Marina Porcelli and Martha Cecilia Ruiz from the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program (IWP). The two are participating in the Fall Residency program that attracts established and emerging creative writers — poets, fiction writers, dramatists, and nonfiction writers — from all over the world.

MUSCATINE, IOWA (September 27, 2023) — The Muscatine Art Center, Global Education at the Stanley Center, MCC Collegiate LULAC, LULAC Muscatine, Muscatine UNIDOS 4-H, and the Muscatine County Arts Council are collaborating to offer an evening of dancing, music, and more on Thursday, October 12, 5:15-6:45PM.
