An award-winning, bestselling author will take part in three special June 13 presentations hosted by the Davenport Public Library, with noted illustrator and picture-book creator LeUyen Pham appearing via Zoom to share her experiences and offer insights on her contributions to works ranging from the graphic-novel memoir Real Friends to Oscar winner Julianne Moore's children's-book sensation Freckleface Strawberry.

Focusing on the artist's earlier works that employ found objects as inspiration, the Figge Art Museum's exhibition George Olson: The Found Object, on display June 9 (the day of the museum's re-opening) through 28, finds its creator using a range of mediums – among them woodcut relief, ink wash, charcoal, and assemblage – to move beyond the objects he is referencing in order to create bold graphic abstractions that simulate the intriguing surface textures of his source material.

With its showcased talent acclaimed for his mixed-media paintings and prints that utilize a variety of techniques including woodcarving and collage, the exhibition Didier William: Lakou graces Davenport's Figge Art Museum from June 9 (the day of the museum's re-opening) through August 23, its artist drawing on Haitian history, mythology, and personal experience to explore significant themes of cultural identity.

With the Bettendorf venue again open to the public and welcoming children of all ages, the Family Museum will house the interactive touring exhibition Curious George: Let's Get Curious! from June 6 through September 13, leading visitors on a fun math-, science-, and engineering-based adventure while emphasizing the central roles played by parents and caregivers.

For those seeking outdoor education and entertainment after many months spent indoors, topics such as Mississippi River history, hydropower, native bird species, and more will be explored when River Action begins its annual presentations of Channel Cat Talks and Riverine Walks – “Explore the River Series” celebrations of the Quad Cities' unique culture and landscape taking place several times weekly from June 4 through 27.

A local legend in the arts of calligraphy, lettering, and painting will have a number of his estimable works showcased in the latest Beréskin Gallery & Art Studio exhibit, with the Bettendorf venue inviting visitors to view the talents of a former St. Ambrose University instructor in Paul Herrera: Rhythm & Movement, on display from May 29 through June 25.

People gather in celebration with friends and strangers alike on the streets of downtown Davenport while rainbow banners wave behind them. Taken during the 2019 Pridefest, these images by photojournalist Andy Abeyta document one of the many events planned by Quad Cities Unity Pride during its annual QC Unity Pride Week, and can currently be viewed online in the Figge Art Museum's virtual exhibition QC Pride Photographs by Andy Abeyta, on display through August 2.

Currently Installed in the Figge Art Museum’s second-floor orientation gallery, the Davenport venue's new exhibition Seen & Heard: The Art of Empowerment will be available for online and in-person viewing through May 2.

Each spring, Quad City Arts shows works from top Quad City high school visual artists and their art teachers. The exhibit fills the walls of the venue's downtown Rock Island gallery, with the opening ceremony attended by hundreds of Quad Citians supporting young artistic talent, and students receive thousands of dollars in awards from exhibition sponsors. This year, due to Illinois' stay-at-home order, the 43rd Annual High School Art Invitational is getting an unexpected update to the traditional gallery exhibit, with works viewable to the public through Quad City Arts' Web site through May 31.

We may presently be spending most of our time indoors, but Bettendorf's Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy is giving everyone a chance to revel in the great beauty of the venue's home state with the online pastel exhibition Tom Christopher: Reflections of the Iowa Landscape, a collection of richly colored works viewable from April 3 through 30 and boasting an online video reception and artist demonstrations on Friday, April 3.
