Appearing as the latest guests in Quad City Arts Visiting Artists series, actors from the Griffin Theatre of Chicago will stage their acclaimed, unique military drama Letters Home at St. Ambrose University of November 4, the incisive and moving production that the Daily Herald called “a thoughtfully conceived, quietly eloquent show” that “avoids geo-politics and paints a compelling portrait of the men and women who carry out the country's political will.”

One of the Quad Cities' most eagerly anticipated sales events returns to Rock Island's QCCA Expo Center November 2 through 4, as Melting Pot Productions presents the 24th Annual Fall Antique Spectacular Vintage Market, allowing hunters of vintage goods an all-weekend opportunity to shop for a wide range of quality antiques.

A widely lauded writer, critic, and historian will take part in two special Figge Art Museum presentations on November 4 and 5, with best-selling author Ross King speaking on “The Heroism of Modern Life: Edouard Manet and the Impressionsts” on Sunday and his book Mad Enchantment: Claude Monet & the Painting of the Water Lilies on Monday – talks given in conjunction with the Figge's current exhibition French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950.

Serving as concert headliners in the venue's “'90s Alternative Night,” the folk-punk musicians of Brett Newski & the No Tomorrow play Davenport's Redstone Room on November 2, with New Noise magazine saying of the band's Milwaukee-based frontman, “He manages to come off as vulnerable (without all that emo baggage), extremely witty ('D.I.Y.' is one of the finest songs ever written about the realities of playing a show), and smart without pretention.”
