***

65 (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, FilmScene at the Chauncey, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - What ultimately ruined this prehistoric-sci-fi opus for me, beyond it being uncharacteristically dull, was its lack of detail, which proved to be a significant perk in its creators' A Quiet Place but an unfortunate detriment here. IMDb listing.

All of Those Voices (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Saturday, March 25, 3 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Moderately better than its predecessors, because compared to Ant-Man & the Wasp, this new adventure has roughly 75-percent more Michelle Pfeiffer, and compared to the 2018 sequel and 2015's original Ant-Man, it has 100-percent more Jonathan Majors. IMDb listing.

Arctic: Our Frozen Planet (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Avatar: The Way of Water (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - Over the film's 190-plus minutes, I never yawned once, and thought that James Cameron had executed his greatest action sequences since Aliens, which makes them among the greatest action sequences of all time. IMDb listing.

Awakenings (PG-13; Tuesday, March 28, 6:30 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Bholaa (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: opens Thursday, March 30) - IMDb listing.

But I'm a Cheerleader (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Friday, March 24, 10 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Champions (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Sports-comedy uplift that's easy to find charming and touching despite your awareness of how blatantly you're being manipulated. IMDb listing.

Cocaine Bear (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMA, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Alhtough this comic thriller is both less stupid that it could have been and less stupid than it should have been, I had a surprisingly agreeable time. IMDb listing.

Creed III (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - A satisfyingly down-and-dirty tale of broken brotherhood that doesn't aim for the mythic until its climactic bout – and by then, the movie has earned the thematic visual grandeur that director/star Michael B. Jordan supplies. IMDb listing.

Das Ka Dhamki (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX) - IMDb listing.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: Sneak Preview (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Sunday, March 26, 2 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Eraserhead (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Saturday, March 25, 10 p.m.) - David Lynch's low-budget, borderline-traumatizing mind-blower is that rarest of cinematic treats: a painstakingly slow thrill. IMDb listing.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (R; FilmScene on the Ped Mall, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - This just might be the only sci-fi/martial-arts/time-travel comedy you'll ever see that also boasts an emotional power to make you cry – a lotIMDb listing.

Flight of the Butterflies (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - A bit pokey, but the slow, unspeakably beautiful explosion that is the butterflies' mass exodus is enough to make you believe in God - or, at the very least, in the gods of nature docs. IMDb listing.

Give Me Liberty (not rated; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Friday, March 24, 6:45 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Helen / Believe (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Thursday, March 30, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

In Viaggio: The Travels of Pope Francis (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Monday, March 27, 7:30 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Inside (R; FilmScene on the Ped Mall) - IMDb listing.

Into America's Wild (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.

Jerusalem (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - This visually spectacular, 45-minute edu-tainment on Israel's "cradle of civilization" is really quite a glorious piece of work. IMDb listing.

Jesus Revolution (PG-13; Daveport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Sincerity that's void of sanctimony counts for a lot, as does humor that's void of corn, and both can be found in abundance here, particularly whenever Jonathan Roumie is on-screen as hippie revolutionary Lonnie Frisbee. IMDb listing.

John Wick: Chapter 4 (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, FilmScene at the Chauncey, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

Josie & the Pussycats (PG-13; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 26, 7 p.m.) - The leading characters display their "empowerment" by acting as dippy as humanly possible while spewing fourth-rate bubble-gum rock lyrics. IMDb listing.

Journey to Space (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - Says narrator Patrick Stewart of the genial scientists on-screen, "It's all about getting the job done and having a little fun" - an apt description for this edu-doc itself. IMDb listing.

The Lost King (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline) - IMDb listing.

Malatesta's Carnival of Blood (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Wednesday, March 29, 10 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

My Neighbor Totoro: 35th Anniversary (G; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

National Parks Adventure (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - This expectedly gorgeous edu-doc is also unexpectedly, even thrillingly, varied in presentation: sensationally informative, joyfully inspiring, and even laugh-out-loud funny. IMDb listing.

Oceans (G; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - The movie's 85 minutes occasionally crawl by as deliberately as its sea-floor denizens, but it's hard to be too disappointed by a film that provides so many extraordinary sights. IMDb listing.

Perfect Addiction (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: Monday, March 27, and Wednesday, March 29, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Persepolis (PG-13; FilmScene at the Chauncey: Wednesday, March 29, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (PG; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - Literally everything about this long-delayed, superbly well-animated sequel worked for me. IMDb listing.

Return to Seoul (R; FilmScene at the Chauncey) - IMDb listing.

The Quiet Girl (PG-13; FilmScene on the Ped Mall) - IMDb listing.

Santiago: The Camino Within (not rated; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Marcus Sycamore Cinema: Tuesday, March 28, 7 p.m.) - IMDb listing.

School of Magical Animals (PG; Marcus Sycamore Cinma) - IMDb listing.

Scream VI (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcus Sycamore Cinema) -  If you'll forgive the spoiler, I haven't had this much fun at one of these things since Laurie Metcalf donned the Ghostface mask, and given how many of the new film's cast members weren't even in grade school, or alive, back then, that's a lo-o-o-ong time. IMDb listing.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (PG-13; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX, Regal Moline, Marcys Sycamore Cinema) - The first Shazam! was a surprising, quick-witted comedy with comic-book antics; this one is a formulaic, overbearing comic-book yarn with occasional jokes. And most of the jokes aren't that great. IMDb listing.

Superpower Dogs (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - Writer/director Daniel Ferguson provides enough globe-trotting action for a James Bond flick, treating us to first-rate training footage and re-created missions in locales ranging from the Canadian Rockies to the Italian coast to a debris-strewn site near New York's Ground Zero. IMDb listing.

A Thousand & One (R; Davenport 53rd 18 + IMAX: opens Wednesday, March 28) - IMDb listing.

The Tutor (R; Marcus Sycamore Cinema) - IMDb listing.

Wild Africa (not rated; Putnam Museum & Science Center) - IMDb listing.
