An area jazz great and recently retired full-time lecturer at the University of Iowa will be the gifted headliner in the latest Polyrhythms Third Sunday Jazz Series event, a November 17 engagement (at Davenport's Unitarian Universality Congregation of the Quad Cities) with the Steve Grismore Trio featuring vocalist Grismore on guitar, Drew Morton on bass, Justin LeDuc on drums, and standards and originals played in the styles of Keith Jarrett, Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, and George Benson.

Lauded by B.R.E. for his "spirit of imagination untouched by the cruelty of the world" and as "a musical genius unbothered by the trends," genre-spanning singer/songwriter and guitarist Hunter Root headlines a November 16 engagement at Davenport's Raccoon Motel, B.R.E. adding that "the artist from Lancaster, Pennsylvania is someone we are betting our money and reputation on.

A theatrical musical event boasting the combined talents of father-and-son team John and Jonathan Lyons, the touring sensation Elvis Through the Years lands at Mt. Carroll's Timber Lake Playhouse on November 16, this rock-and-roll showcase designed to capture the essence of a young Elvis from his appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show right on through to the King's legendary comeback special from 1968.

With Distorted Sound raving that, in the band's most recent album Swan Song, the musicians "have laid their souls bare and offered us access to the most honest and intimate parts of themselves," the post-hardcore rockers of The Plot in You headline a November 8 concert at Davenport's Capitol Theatre, Rock 'N' Load adding that "this album is everything fans of The Plot In You would have come to expect of the group, while still sounding fresh and refined."
