The Iowa Pork Producers Association is accepting nominations for the restaurant that serves up Iowa’s best pulled-pork sandwich. The annual contest started Friday morning.

WHITEWATER, WISCONSIN (March 1, 2024) — Kaitlyn Collins from Cordova, Illinois, who is studying Special Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is representing the university as a student teacher during the spring 2024 semester.

Collins, a student in UW-Whitewater's College of Education and Professional Studies, is serving as a student teacher in Special Education in the Milton school district(s) through the end of the school year.

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 1, 2024) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced $1 million in initial funding for competitive grants available through the Iowa Department of Education to support school districts that partner with or create local child-care centers to help more high-school students earn a national child-development credential.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 29, 2024) — Governor Kim Reynolds recently announced that sixteen communities have been awarded a total of $8 million in grants to advance water-quality projects. The funding is made available through the Wastewater and Drinking Water Treatment Financial Assistance Program, which was created as a part of Senate File 512, the first legislation signed into law by Gov Reynolds in 2018.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 29, 2024) — Auditor of State Rob Sand today released a report on a review of the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department’s (HSEMD) compliance with requirements established by Chapter 34A of the Code of Iowa. Section 34A.7A(5) of the Code requires each county Joint 911 Service Board to submit public-safety answering point (PSAP) cost and expense data and an audit of that data.
